Czech Republic goalie makes an incredible save but stays down momentarily grabbing his shoulder, gets up to try and keep playing, concedes a goal, then collapses in pain. Looks like he dislocated his shoulder or something and is getting subbed out.

I don't think he's saving the follow-up hurt shoulder or not but if he had stayed down and Turkey scored, I'm sure it would have started a conversation. Either way, Czech Republic is on their way out.

Yes...they are guaranteed to finish 1st as head to head is 1st tiebreaker and they beat Turkey

Article on tiebreaker rules. It talked more of tiebreakers in the individual groups but I'm sure all rules apply across groups for the 3rd place teams.

It's wild that someone on the bottom of that list will play in the final. The most likely are either 3 traditionally strong teams that have all looked poor (Italy, England, Netherlands) and Austria who have looked the best, but has qualified for a knockout round exactly one time in their history and have never even sniffed a final.

My guess is that either England or Italy will luck into a final playing slightly better than they did in the group stage and then they'll get manhandled by either Spain or Germany even if the final score won't fully reflect it.

How can Italy be so good and a few years later such crap? Most of the big European nations kind of maintain a level of quality. Italy being the exception to that the past few years.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a team down 2 goals in a lockout game play with less urgency. It's like Italy had already packed their bags and checked out of their hotel.

I mean, they miss the 2018 WC, win the 2020 Euro, miss 2022 WC and then this Euro performance was subpar for their standards. It's all nothing with the Italians as of late.

To be fair, that was not a great Italian team that won last time. It was closer to the Greek team that won.
