Exciting soccer so far. Serbia pressing and enjoying a lot of the ball too. I hope they can find an equalizer soon. They're going to get gassed and can't keep this up for 45 minutes.

I love Trent, but he looks awkward in midfield. He doesn't look comfortable receiving the ball on the move in the middle of the field.

Front three look meh. Saka is being bullied.

Can't figure out what Southgate has against Palmer. He might be the best attacking player on the team. Being overly loyal to Kane might sink this squad.

Also, I can't stand Landon as a "color commentator". He makes me want to take a nap. What idiot thought this was a good idea?

Palmer is not better than Kane, Foden or Saka. Kane isn't the problem. He is still the best 9 in the world.

I'd be tempted if I was Southgate to play Palmer over Foden. Foden is nails for City, but he rarely seems to hit those heights for England.

Granted, at the end of the day Southgate plays insanely defensive for a team that can field an attacking 3 of Foden-Kane-Saka + a midfield base of Rice-Bellingham. They should be steamrolling teams.

I'm a big believer in playing players in their best positions. Palmer can't co-exist in a midfield that has Bellingham in it unless you are playing a weak opponent or you're chasing a goal...or you tell Bellingham to play more withdrawn and not occupy Palmer's space which I would never want to do. The only other alternative is to play Palmer somewhere he did not play often during the club season and I doubt he would be nearly as impressive on either wing.
