Play reminded me of when a player in basketball is running wrecklessly into the defense, has zero chance of scoring, and the defender shuffles his feet instead of taking the charge.
The downside to all of this is if it goes to PKs and Ronaldo scores his and Portugal wins, then we get to hear 5 days of Ronaldo redemption stories.
