Yeah but they are trying to change the spelling and pronunciation used internationally, dumbass.
PatAg said:
Yea it's not a hard concept. They want it pronounced correctly the way they say it.

Just like Kiev / Kyev. They changed the way they wanted it spelled and pronounced in the west. Media follows change orders. Maybe one day, the masses will follow along too. Did you guys notice in these Euros that Czech republic was now Czechia?

Are you sure you want our support? Have you seen the way the teams we support play?
I'm going to blast the next Spanish-speaker that I come across for saying Inglaterra or Estados Unidos. "THAT"S NOT HOW WE SAY IT IN ENGLISH AND I DEMAND THAT YOU STOP SAYING IT THE WAY YOU'VE ALWAYS SAID IT IN YOUR LANGUAGE!" I think it will go well.jeffk said:PatAg said:

This. Cote d'Ivoire did similarly a while back. Basically, the name of our country isn't English, so please stop translating for international broadcasts, etc.

If we officially asked everyone else to say "We prefer you say United States" than they should say United States.
We don't care, so it doesnt matter.
They do care what they are called, so thats why you hear announcers pronouncing it that way.
I dont think anyone in Turkey cares what 2 Texags forum members say.

I don't really care but it comes across as needlessly pedantic. Same category as Ross from Friends pronouncing it ka-ra-te or Ted from HIMYM pronouncing it ren-ay-sanse.

Why are these ******bags calling Turkey turkeya?
Apparently a year or two ago the Turkish prime minister has said they want to go to this pronunciation to distance themselves from the animal
