The Warden is asleep and I am watching my son sleep on the video moniter, so finally I get a chance to clean some guns and surf a little.
Some free advice (for what it's worth): Work for yourself, you stay up at night to clean guns and sleep in a little on Monday morning if you want to; and if you are married and have the slightest desire to have kids, do it! I waited too long and through one bad marriage, but its the finest thing in the world. I'm not the sharing type, but thats my world at the moment. And its a damn good one at that!
You have to really hand it to Mark LaRue and the staff at LaRue Tactical...they run one fine ship there in Leander. So, I finally got around to ordering my Stealth Upper last Monday. They told me it would ship in about a month, and that was after I dropped all the names of everyone I knew in the shop...hey, it never hurts...but, when I asked about the possibility of getting the now discontinued stainless barrel instead of the new black coated ones, I was pleased to hear that "Yeah, thats no problem." Excellent.
Fast forward three whole days to Thursday...phone rings. Its LaRue accounting...great, did my card get hacked or something? Oh no, we just want to confirm your address before we ship your upper..."Come again?" "We just ran some 18" 13.2's and you where first up, we will ship it today and you should have it tomarrow." Whoooohooo!
I love it when a plan comes together... Here's a few pics.
1. If your wife/rib/GF/SO/whatever does not approve of your hobby or is just plain nosy...dont have one of these shipped to your house. Love the tape on the box...but it may not be for everyone. You have been warned.
Me and my UPS driver, we are tight. I love that Brown truck:
2. Lots of goodies inside as usual. Hat, bumper stickers, 'Dillo rub, tactical purse, hunh? Tactical what? Not sure what to make of the tactical arm bag...maybe I'll carry ammo in it at the LaRue 3 Gun...
3. Ahh...the good stuff! Nicely packaged upper in the tube wrapped in 10 mil plastic. Got a big bottle of the LaRue gun oil as well. Its nice stuff, but I still use Mobile 1 as primary lube.
4. Better pic. Love the brushed stainless. I am glad I asked for it. I dont throw my guns out of helicopters, so I like the custom look.
5. My camera fu sucks, sorry. All dressed up...the registered lower has a UBR (Love, Love, Love it!), a Chip McCormick trigger (back to JP's for me, not impressed), and a MagPul MIAD. Scope is a MIV 4.5-14 mil-dot. ARMS 40L rear sight and PRI front. Changed out the flah hider for a can mount and switched the carrier for a JP stainless. Threw in the LaRue sling just to suck up a little...
6. Last pic with the can mounted. I am very happy with this package. Coyotes, priarie dogs and 600 yard steel plates had better watch out...
