Upcoming Version: v186.2, ETA: 12:40 pm EST

* Put all meats taming speeds/values exactly where they originally were. Made Kibbles 40% faster for Taming than Raw Meat ever was, and it's got SUPER AFFINITY (if you use the right kind of Kibble for your Dino -- for example Raw Prime Meat may net you a 70% effective tame now, whereas using the right Kibble can get you close to 100%!). May continue to buff Kibble, but let's take it one step at a time with seeing how useful it is now

Boom. Now no one can complain that the devs don't listen. At least until the next patch.

Wow, been out of pocket the last few weeks with the folks visiting. Apparently I've missed some big updates. Hoping to get back in the swing in a few days.

EDIT: FYI - Server is currently down.

Server isn't "down", just not updated to the current patch. It's still online, but the ARK client won't allow you to connect to an outdated server once the client has been updated to an incompatible patch. They really need to give us an option to not update the latest patch until we tell it to.

The rate at which food spoils is annoying. I hate having to find food and cook it every time I log on. This is doubly so for prime meat and these recipes. The only thing more annoying will be if they ever make the "You are to hot warning" mean something. It's just a persistent warning on my screen.

Do you have a preserving bin? Cooked meat last 10x longer there, and like 100x longer in a refrigerator.

You need to come join a tribe. In Dinosmatter, it seems someone is always farming prime meat for taming, which ends up generating a good bit of extra meat which we then cook and throw in the bin, which will last for the evening for everyone's benefit. Same thing with berries - if you farm berries on a dino, you'll end up with all the food you can stand (it would be nice if they made an "eat all" function so we don't have to spam 'use' 100 times to eat a stack). You can also use prime meat to make jerky, which lasts 20 days in the bin.

I guess the hot message is important if you are far from water - it makes you burn stamina and water faster.

I think they need to change it so that when prime meat spoils, it spoils to "spoiled prime meat", specifically for the scorpions. Or, create a different narcotic recipe based on that. Perhaps an insta-topor increase, instead of slow increase.

What happened to FedEx?

He's out at the ocean base, I needed to carry more supplies. It's coming along nicely. Badmoonrisin and I have mostly completed the base and pen, though there is room for improvement. It's right on the water and has a training pen and enclosed area for sharks and dolphins (we now have one of each, makes farming oil easy). Someone else had made a small hut and fence further inland, so I used it to tame 2 raptors and a carno.

If you stick all of your inventory in a chest (including hotbar and armor items) you can fast travel there using the beds. There's some armor and weapons there along with food so you can restock when you get there. I'm going to search for an underwater cave today.

Okay, good. Just making sure he didn't disappear like Air Mail did.

Maaannnnnn, I'm missing so much right now. Really want to be apart of some of this expansion. Hoping to be on late tonight for a few hours.

Oh, and thanks for making a saddle for FedEx. I didn't have that engram yet. 2.5 hrs of solo prime feeding to tame him, lol. Sadly, I had 10+ prime go to waste.

I'm curious if anyone knows this, but does the additional use of narcotics/narcoberries cause the taming effectiveness to go down, or is that solely a product of time and food type? I ask, because both narcoberries and narcotics generate thirst, and since dinos don't have a water meter, they get hungry faster. So, if you just have an absolute excess of berries/narcotics, you could speed a tame up by using more than you need.

Got the saddle from a drop. Though I do think I have that engram.

Not sure on the narcotics/thirst. Would be something to try, but I've spent some time on the forums reading about taming and haven't come across that trick. Would be a game changer for taming since narco berries and lesser meat are easy and fast to farm. Could use one of the online calculators to see how long it should take to tame and only use lesser raw meat to take out the prime variable.

I don't know about narcotics increasing thirst, but stem berries definitely increase thirst. When searching for info about this I found this from the wiki:
quote:
Advanced taming or "starvation" method: This must be attempted CAREFULLY, this is a method of taming that take A LOT of narcoberries or narcotics, and very little time. Start off with your dino knocked out, place a bunch of narcotics or narcoberries on your dino as per usual, next put stimulants or stimberries on him and start remote using each try an keep a good eye on your torpor levels as the stim berries will start to wake him up, how ever it will also bring his "thirst" or in this case hunger as dinos do not have a thirst level down at about 2x the normal rate for approximately 2 seconds per berry, essentially making it so if you have the stims/narcos you can theoretically tame a t-rex in less than 5 minutes, most easily approached with a 2-1 narc-stim ratio(tested on raptors, scorpions, and stegos (AVRG taming time 3hrs, completed in 2:15 could have used more stims/narcos but the tame wasn't planned and its hard to farm that many solo by hand while taming) further testing on others required)

along the same lines:

quote:
Tested multiple times with T-Rex, Arg's, and Sabertooths. Last test was with two T-Rexs. Level 10 T-Rex tamed as normal using Narcotic's and Prime Meat. At the same exact time, a level 12 T-Rex using the following method, and it tamed an hour and a half faster. This method uses a lot more resources (Stimulant and Narcotic), but taming time is vastly reduced.

Put 1 to 2 stacks of normal raw meat (for when the prime meat is out to prevent reducing the taming), 2 stacks of Narcotics and 2 stacks of Stimulants into the inventory. Have one additional person farming Prime Meat nearby. Force feed the creature enough stimulants to reduce its torpor / consciousness to around half, then force feed narcotics until its torpor / consciousness is back full. Keep repeating this while continuing to put prime meat into its inventory. If you watch the hunger of the creature, at normal it will go down slowly. While under the effect of the stimulant / narcotic the hunger drops about 3 times as fast (if not faster), causing it to reach its "eat" level much faster.

Is Dinos Matter on a server that has normal rules? Or do you guys have adjusted times for trining and xp and such?

I know the gather rate is increased, but outside of that, not certain.

Visited the ocean base last night and made saddles for the raptors. Also tested out my 400 oxygen, which made for easy swimming, and added some oil to the supplies.

As an aside, the island seemed a lot bigger before birds, lol.

We have two tribes from Texags on the TCOV server: The server is owned by Tr1thion, but he, AtlAg, and others are in a tribe named "Texags."

D'funk, Crockercock, Mid90, myself, Wee_Ag, and a bunch of others are in DinosMatter.

It's been a couple days since I was on, but the only adjustment I'm aware of is that the resource gather rate is turned up. Someone in his tribe can chime in to confirm if there are other changes, as you guys talk to him more - he's not actually on Texags much.

I started pumping oxygen too. I probably won't be on until next week as I'm going on a fishing trip this weekend, but I'm looking forward to checking out all you guys have done with the ocean base!

Happily, I can spawn anywhere I want, as I don't think I have any inventory. If we are still randomly dying when we are offline, we're going to have to turn into a commi society, with boxes of shared supplies for everyone.

Yup, this is the only adjustment that was made but was toned down a bit.

Just build yourself a room in the main base like dfunk and I have done and put a storage bin in there so you can quickly dump your stuff in a single location and then pick it back up.

I pulled a level 57 mammoth down from the hills, but we didn't have time to tame her. If anyone has about 6 hours to spare, give her a go. Be warned, it will take you about 50-60 tranq arrows to put her down.

I must have the worst timing. I only have a chance to play once or twice a week, but the server has been down each time I've tried. Haven't had my ARK fix in over 2 weeks!

Also, she won't fit through a dino gate, so we tore down walls to get her in the taming pen. D'Funk built a bohemoth gate, but we don't think the current area we have walled in is big enough to accommodate the size dinos that will need a bohemoth gate, so we didn't put it up.

Our thought was that we need to expand the walls quite a bit, maybe even around the taming pen, so our little base isn't overrun with mammoths and brontos and the like.

I was trying between 5:30 - 8:30 with no luck. Nobody was in the TS either.
