But with this kind of launch, is there ever really a day 1? It's not like it's an open access beta. We've paid to play this. What will be the draw to get folks to pick this game up for day 1, any more than there is to pick it up today? It's an interesting model, but I think it naturally lends itself to not follow some of the standard patterns as a result.

About the server, Trithion is the one running it and he has posted a few times on here. I'm friends with him on Steam so I can pass along interest in helping support it. I'm sure he would also appreciate anyone that can help run/maintain the server in addition to helping financially support it.
Also, all this reminds me of DayZ with noobs just getting wasted by established players. It's gonna happen and there's nothing that can really be done about it.

Sure there is. There are lots of ways to do it.... But "open world" purity means there can be no hand holding, no tutorials, no instruction, and trying to accomplish the monumental task of trying to break or at least disincentivize human nature with regards to the John Gabriel Law of Internet Anonymity.
Is TCOV's Playground down now? I search for UnOfficial servers and it says it cant find. I am confused.

That's one method that has never worked for me on this game, so YMMV.
Sorry for not keeping up with this thread the past few days. I've been extremely busy studying for an IT exam that I have just been putting off for too long and I just haven't had the time or energy. I'm trying to keep the server as up to date as possible but the updates come so frequently that it's hard to be available right now within minutes to an hour of the update releasing.
That said, Ark server's and server setting consoles are extremely archaic for the times we live in. For settings to save, you cannot just hit the "save" button. The server has to be reset 10 seconds after the save for them to actually save. Servers take around 10-15 minutes to reboot from a restart and the update executable in the console is brutally slow. This is for all servers, not just ours. It's just the way the Ark team set up server management.
We do have a paypal account for people to donate to if they wish to help with keeping the server alive. It only costs $57/month compared to Alien's dedicated server which costs him $250/month (although the equipment used for that server could literally run a WoW server with no problems). If you wish to donate, the email for it is Texark@outlook.com.

They are moving to a new server block to improve performance. Going to be the same name but it will be down for another 90 min or so.

As the above post said, our provider switched our server to a new machine. My internet is out and won't be fixed until tomorrow. The other admin is porting over the servers settings at this time. When the server is available please let me know via this thread if anything is different or wrong and I'll have the other admin fix it

I think they really need to make it so you can see your compass and or map while flying. Took a very unintentional tour of the island last night, lol.
On the flip side, I found some nice bases too. TexAgs, do y'all have bases on opposite cliffs over looking a river? It was quite the little set up.

You can. I think it's mouse wheel down + n or something like that while you are on your mount.

The one I'm talking about had a spino and two rexes on one side. Both sides had some very creative pipe work down to the river below. Wanted to take a closer look, but wasn't sure if there were canons.

I wanted to kidnap a dilo and hold him ransom, but I was on a pteranodon and didn't want to have to stop every 100 feet on the way back... not to mention I didn't want you guys rolling our base later.
Someone has also gone a bit crazy with a very large (and incomplete) wood pen structure just south of the East Zone 1 spawn area. Looked large enough to put a football field in.
