Eh, depends on the reason. If it's for the achievement, go for it, but gathering berries I would suggest a mammoth. They move faster and they get a ton of wood/thatch.

Dude you have the best stories. If we kicked people out for ridiculous adventures like yours, well most of the tribe would be gone.

Did you log in last night mid? I saw an in-game message that you died.
Also, when I logged into the game I was dead.... I'm going to start dropping my inventory and tools before I log off - this is getting old.

So... um... where's Air Mail and Thorny?
quote:Someone needs to fess up to the loss of Airmail! I went to a lot of trouble to get him back the other night!
Well, I found Thorny. He had somehow glitched in the base, but seems to be fine now. However, he now is mate boosted, thanks to his new friend I found tonight, FedEx.
quote:Where are you playing Redbeard? I don't think that's TCOV - unless the tribe you thieved was the Texags tribe. Maybe I've missed it, but I haven't seen evidence that anyone else has that kind of resources.
Did a little thieving yesterday. Found someones storage cache that had 75 metal walls, and a crap load of metal windows/doors/ramps/spikes. Loaded up all the dinos and made a few trips. (Tina the trike sadly drowned from getting stuck on a rock and maybe being a little over burdened.) Upgraded my base real well. They didn't have any metal foundations, and I don't have nearly enough metal/ cement to build the 9 we needed for a 3x3 base so I improvised.
I built a stone foundation and then the rest of the base out of metal. After that I placed metal fences along the base of the wall and flush against it. There is no stone visible and this was crazy cheaper than metal foundations. Is there any reason this won't work just as well?
Also, are we reasonably safe from retribution inside of a metal shell? I imagine the guys are going to be pissed when they log on and find ~20,000+ metal and who knows how much cement gone. Luckily there is another base in between us, so hopefully they get blamed.
quote:I haven't seen anyone on TCOV's playground other than the Texags tribe. I've seen some talking in chat, but haven't run into anyone yet. However, our main base is far from any spawn points, so that may be why.
How often do y'all run into other people actually playing? I played or a couple hours this weekend. Never saw one other
Person playing. Did find some sleeping and helped myself to some of their goods. Alot of
People don't have doors on their forts. Is that the norm? Can you lock your doors to make
People actually break it down to get in while you're "sleeping"?
I needed up just sleeping somewhere just off a beach in the woods out in the open.

You should come join us on TCOV's Playground!
Edit: As far as being safe from retribution - if you are in a PVP server, then I think only big explosions can harm stone or metal structures ...but if someone has that much metal and cement, then they probably have the ability to make C4 and grenades.
If your foundation is weaker than the structure, then someone may target your foundation (or they may blow it up on purpose. If the foundation goes, then the walls will go too.
If you are in a PVE server, then lock your stuff up and they can't do much to your structures. There are some ways they could grief you, but they shouldn't be able to break in.

I found what appeared to be a FOB on the corner of a beach near some rocks in the water that looked to have some resources around it. I was up in the cliff overlooking it. Then I found a small hut on top but was killed by a couple raptors before I could inspect.
Was this anyone's base here on texags?

Current Version: v186.0
* Missed This: Raw Prime Meat is now 1/3rd as fast as it was previously to tame (it's equivalent to Raw Meat) -- but same Affinity. Kibble is 1/2 as fast as Raw Prime Meat was previously to tame. We will be adjusting these back to more-or-less their previous speeds in our next major Update.

* Rebalanced some taming speeds: Raw Prime Meat is 70% as fast as it was originally, and appropriate Kibble is now as fast as Raw Prime Meat originally was. (non-Prime meats are the same speed as originally, as is the non-nutritious Cooked Prime Meat)

Kibble is the new raw prime, raw prime is worse.
