I thought 2 and 4 were good. Despite the logical flaws. And why was the wookie all of a sudden pissed off? Among other things already mentioned. I mean, its really hard to consistently **** up this source material.

According to ScreenCrush - the Transdoshans (sp?) have a history of enslaving the Wookiees.
That's correct. There is an arc in Clone Wars where some Trandoshans capture a group of jedi younglings and Chewbacca. They also talk about enslaving Wookiees.

Imagine telling someone 5 years ago that they were going to insert a character called "The Mandalorian" into a series on Boba Fett to create more excitement and make it better....

I was gonna say, I interpreted that lady's speech to mean that he was attacking them because their race forced him to fight in the battles she was talking about.

Why in the hell wasn't all the flashbacks with this as the end the first 2 episodes????? Why?????? It would have been so much better.

And at least the wanna be biker/droid people have a prior relationship with Boba and their appearance in episode 3 makes a little more sense.

It was upside down so that would be harder to manage. I'm not sure how it had any thrust at all from the cockpit bubble side of the ship.

Once we saw TIEs with VTOL capability anything was possible

Thankfully this episode got the show back on track.

Back on track or finally on the tracks?
It's back on one track.

I liked this one. Loved seeing Slave I in action and especially love anytime we get a depth charge....BWWWOMMMM... Coolest. Sound effect. Ever. Loved fat Gamoreans. The skinny ones in Mando and Fett's 2 helpers didn't look right to me. Also liked seeung the bunny eared droid from Clone Wars as live action and chuckled at the chef droid doing a Grievous imitation.

The costume work on the aliens just seems off. Feels too clean like a 50s Lost in Space rather than the "realism" of the Star Wars universe.

It was ok I guess? The entire Fennic opening sequence with the weird music and commitment to these weird cyberpunk kids on Tatooine was off putting. It feels like cheap sci fi and nothing like Star Wars. I hated most of the prequel/sequels but can acknowledge they at least embraced "Star Wars".

After that it improved but it will never be Firespray to me.

LEGO sets have retconned it as far as I know.

And if I was a proud bounty hunter I wouldn't tell a well renowned assassin I wanted a ship type - I'd tell them I want MY ship bc Boba is supposed to be a badass

This. Everything in this series - on supposedly one of the seediest planets in the galaxy - has been waaaaay too clean. Star Wars has always felt so dusty and used and lived in, but everything from the costumes to the vespas to Boba's palace are just way too shiny and pristine and really feel like sets and costumes more than Star Wars ever has (save for some of the Coruscant stuff in the prequels).

Lego sets haven't renamed it. They just call it Boba Fett's starship.

And it's telling someone you want to steal back your Aventador from someone's garage. You don't tell them what you named it. The fact that it's a Lambo makes it badass.

The six armed chef droid with the General Grievous style cleaver spinning was my favorite part of the episode.

That was a nice reference.

I am watching and do like the show, but the tone of both SW threads just seems to be constantly negative, so I don't really see the point of posting my observations or the cool connections and references that I notice. It's more fun watching the show on my own then in this group setting. I'm not trying to say everyone should like it and nobody should criticize the franchise in general or the show choices specifically, it's just worn down my interest for the most part in actively discussing the show.

I would absolutely appreciate things like the cool connections. Even when I find this stuff bad, I still enjoy the ScreenCrush-like easter eggs, breakdowns, and deep background dives. Those kinds of things almost always end up making me appreciate these episodes more. Also, personally, I know I harp on this stuff, but I also always try to balance it with positive sentiments as well, or at least not be 100% negative. Which, for instance, is why I tried to get a convo going in the other thread about what's to come in terms of the the other shows this year, as opposed to dwelling on this one. That said, I totally get it, and understand your reasoning. Just noticed you had been unusually quiet as of late in these threads and I figured the negativity was the reason why.

Much better episode, I hope the last 3 make up for the bad start.

Btw, his female counterpart is a terrible actress. I either laugh or cringe anytime she says anything.

The wookie pissed off seemed like a ham fisted way to get not only the joke of ripping arms out of people's sockets but also as most know Lucas loves him some arms being ripped off. A little too much fan service there and the only setup/motivation seemed to be that he was a mean drunk.

That being said overall a good episode so they're batting .500 but with the source material their average should be much higher.

Overall, I did think it was a better episode. It felt like it could have been episode 1. They still could have worked in the Tusken back story.

And, Jennifer Beals... thank you for your contributions to the Star Wars universe.

Both Beals and Ming-Na Wen are 58. That blows my mind.

Personally, I love Beals' casino/nightclub on the show. Not every place on Tattooine needs to be a wretched hive of scum and villainy. It reminds me of Rick's Cafe.....without the Nazis.

When done well, those connections enhance the story and ground the show even more thoroughly in the greater Star Wars universe.
The counter to that is when show makers/writers focus more on "look at this obscure reference" over crafting a quality story

So we needed a back story on how she became his side kick? It was not like we had not already figured it out. So nothing really happened in this episode either.

Last night's episode was another meh. Had its moments, but like everyone else seems to be saying, this series is just not working per the established standards for Star Wars.

One complaint I have is that they seem to be bringing in familiar Earth stuff to this. Such as the establishment that Fett took the injured gal to be worked on. My first impression was, what is this a tattoo parlor? They even had a black fellow with dreadlocks and some gal getting worked on.

I do agree on some level that Jennifer Beals' place does not necessarily have to be a place of scum and villainy, but she feels a bit out of place. She's supposed to be a Twi'lek, but she looks like the hottie that she is just wearing a headpiece.

The two things I've enjoyed the most in this series was the Lawrence of Arabia scene when the Tuskens attacked the train, and last night when Boba strafed the speeder bikes with the SLAVE ONE (f'you to anyone who thinks that name should be changed, it will always be SLAVE ONE).
