Also, I couldn't agree more with that video on the aspect of needing to see more politics in the ST. We needed to see the new Senate actually functioning before it was destroyed. Give us a sense of the political state of the galaxy. Make us CARE when the capital is destroyed. Pretty sure I made that complaint even at the time, but as a prequel fan that kind of comment gets dismissed or ridiculed.
Anyway sorry for the derail. That's all I've got to say about that.
So this weekend we showed my 10 year old Episode 4-6 as she loves Mando and BoBF, and then Sunday she put Endgame on as she did some chores. What hit me was how the MCU did such an absolutely amazing job creating the universe they were in, the stakes that would be involved and it all culminating into that final battle. You cared. You were invested. But they did it by taking their time setting up this universe with 22 or so movies. The final SW trilogy was rushed, and there was no real direction like Feige gives the MCU. Sure, the MCU has its busts. Certain movies didn't work out as well. Hulk and Thor: The Dark World come to mind. But with SW, they were literally rewriting or just writing scenes as they filmed and it was like a HS cinema's club throwing something together as they went. SW deserved so much better. First, maybe lengthen or make more movies. Stop with having to set up things with one trilogy. Ya, it's tradition. But who cares. But if you have to stay with trilogies, do one showing the New Republic leading to the years that Ren and company come of age. Set things up. Have a "Phase 1" and "Phase 2" with 3 movies each for instance. And they could include Mando and Boba's stories or have the tv shows connect to Phase 1 then do the same with Phase 2. Ya, it's copying the MCU. But it works! And it's SW. The movies will make money. I may not like that Luke never gets to recreate the Jedi Order and his school fails. But if you can tell the story over time, it would make sense. Set up how the NR probably should have straight up demanded unconditional surrender vs allowing the remnants of the Empire to exist and come back to power. There are reasons explained in the comics and books but the movies do not go into it. The side of the politics would have been interesting and helped the story. Explain why there is a damn clone of Palpatine! And was this always the plan? And why does it HAVE to be the Emperor? Why not have another Sith fill in the gap left behind? Then set up the cloning of Force sensitive being as a way to create a clone Sith Order connected the the idea that turning Jedi only ended in failure as they can turn back. Set up what seems to be an interesting story line we are seeing in all the way back in the time line with The Bad Batch and continuing with The Mandalorian after episode 6. Don't just rewrite Ep 4 and go with it...
