The empire was the last to hold it and drove the Mandalorians off, so I would guess it's Imperial Remnant

My guess is the eventual fate of Mandalore is a key point in the story of the Mandalorian as stated earlier in the thread. Bill Burr's character made a joke about Mandalore not existing, referencing Alderaan in the same breath. I'm assuming that wasn't literal, but more around the fact that Mandalore is a wasteland... guessing even worse than it was prior to the rise of the Empire.

I think Boba Fett mentions to Bo-Katan that the whole world is "glass" now, as in totally destroyed. Makes you wonder if he took a trip there after getting out of the Sarlaac or if that happened during the OT and he just knows about it.

True. Of course, they also have boobs and, I assume, nipples as well. I'm sure someone here can confirm.

I am not imagining a Star Wars Swearengen that went back to the Core and opened his brothel that focuses on specialists and he's hanging from the ceiling upside down like a ****ing bat

A lot of PT nostalgia this episode with the star fighter and some familiar locales. Feel like this really set the stage for Mandalorian S3 with the history of the dark saber, the fall of Mandalore, and Din's first challenge. Good episode but left me wanting another 10-15 minutes. I feel like we're going to get a bunch of familiar OT characters next episode.

That. Was. Awesome.

Bryce Dallas Howard absolutely knocked it out of the park.

I honestly thought we were going to get like 40 minutes of Boba and Fennec d*cking around, and then Mando would show up at the very end. That, and I definitely thought my post from last week was a pipe dream...

Quote:

Since I couldn't remember exactly where the characters left off, save for Luke/Grogu, in preparation for next week's Boba episode I rewatched a good chunk of the Mando S2 finale, for the first time since it originally aired, and man does it make Boba feel claustrophobic in comparison. It still had the same, stilted dialogue I remember, but the space travel, the ships, the planet hopping, the action… it all just makes Boba feel so small and contained and just not Star Warsy at all. That said, it'd be cool if we get at least a little of that back next week and actually follow Mando from wherever he is to Tatooine, but I doubt they go that route (no pun intended).

Instead we somehow got so much more than that, right from the jump.

Man, that was fun.

I seriously let out a little yelp when Mando first hit that familiar podrace terrain. I mean, it actually made me *nostalgic* for the prequels, which is saying something. Heck, I even really liked Amy Sedaris' character this go around.

Basically, this is how I felt the entire runtime, especially the last 20 minutes or so...

Loved this episode. It really set up some stuff in the 3rd season of Mando like how he gets a new ship, whether or not we will see Grogu and possibly Luke. Also a bunch of Nostalgia with seeing the N1 Naboo fighter

BEST. EPISODE. EVER!!!!

To me that one episode was better than any of mando season 1/2 and book of so far! Holy smokes!!!!

Starting off hot right out of the gates with Mando… then bounty hunting, to finding his old mandalorian buddies. Then a duel… then the Naboo star fighter (which was always one of my favorite ships to fly in the video games if you new the cheat code) it was literally like pod racing all over…. The Jawa stuff was funny…. Fury…. Then the end with the X wing and how he just ran from the cops lol. Love how they are really trying to push the galactic star cruisers for disneys new hotels

Just WOW!!!

I have't disliked (or hated) this show as much as most on this thread, but I can agree its been really lame in parts. I think part of the reason is I didn't LOVE Boba Fett as a kid. Like I thought he was cool but didn't want to know more about his backstory and all of that like it seems like A LOT of Star Wars fans do. So, my expectations of him as a character are pretty low, and I've mostly enjoyed the show so far. BUT man oh man what a shot in the arm this episode was. It just goes to show how much better a character Mando is vs Boba Fett, when the later's OWN SHOW needs help from the former to make it good/interesting/compelling. Its hard to say if that's the writers screwing up with Boba Fett, or if they just hit gold creating Mando, who fits the venn diagram of Star Wars fans so well. ANYWAY, this episode actually made me feel like the rest of this show is more lame than I was thinking, oddly enough, because it was SO good, and Mando's storyline is just so much more interesting. When Fennec showed up at the end, I was a bit bummed haha.

I've been a sort of fair weather fan of Star Wars… enjoyed the movies and shows but not a dep die hard fan. I was feeling like it had jumped the shark with this series but this episode was fantastic!!!

Then I saw Bryce Dallas Howard in the first credit line and was like BOOM!

That episode was SO WIZARD.

Obviously loved all the Episode I throwbacks, with the Naboo starfighter and the podrace track. (And spinning, which is a good trick.)

Man, I didn't realize how much I missed this character.

Also, the droid that took all his weapons is the same type of droid from Star Tours. (The Disney ride.) What a cool Easter egg.

Mando Season 3 is off to a fantastic start!

Mando is a beloved character, equally or more so than Boba Fett. Straight up.

I have to disagree with all of you. I hated this with a fiery passion.

***Caveat***
It was an awesome episode of the Mandalorian and I can't wait for season 3. The nostalgia was huge and Mando is currently the best character in the Star Wars Universe. It was visually stunning and the information download about the dark saber, Bo Katan, The Way, and the great purge was every thing I wanted to know at the end of season 2 of Mando.
***End Caveat***

I am watching The Book of Boba Fett and FREAKING Boba Fett wasn't even in the episode. This should have been episode 1 of Season 3 of Mando. I was so excited at the end of the last episode to start Boba's war with the pikes and finally go full bore into the Star Wars Mafia world. I waited a week and go ZERO development on the plot of The Book of Boba Fett, WHICH IS THE SHOW I WAS WATCHING. I know I'm splitting hairs and complaining about getting a great Star Wars episode, but there are 2 episodes left in the Boba series, and way too much plot to resolve. I am prepping for disappointment in these final episodes. I almost feel like they tried to capture lightning in a bottle, but ran out of plot/ideas, so they just used it as a Mando information download vehicle.
I feel duped.

The scooter gang needs to let Peli Motto mod their bikes.

Best episode of Boba Fett, and one of the top for a Mandolorian episode too. That was a nice treat.

It looked like maybe a chainmail for Grogu?

This is a really great point, but I think it just underlines how blah the rest of this show has been, because most of us didn't even miss Boba Fett in this episode.

So, if you were excited for that story to continue, I get that this just feels like needless filler. But I'd argue that its pretty bad for the show that the needless filler is the most compelling/interesting/exciting episode yet.

I think people would be a lot happier with this show if Boba was more like how he was in Mandalorian S2 rather than he has been in his own show. His entrance fighting the storm troopers was excellent. In his own show he's gotten the **** kicked out of him. Though as we have seen a Wookiee can do a lot of damage.

It is telling when the best episode of the Book of Boba Fett is a Mandalorian episode. I could have done with less building montage, and I still despise Sedaris's character.

Tons of throwbacks, some of them cooler than others. Zero chance the Mandalorian would ever actually utter the word "wizard."

Now, I just want to skip right to Mando 3. Bo tried to tell him that the Death Watch kids were f-ing crazy.
