The Marshall was bad, but Cad Bane goes too far into a Spaghetti Western ripoff for my liking. The hat, duster, holstered pistols & boots? Why not just have him ride in on a black horse & be accompanied by a sidekick & complete the stereotype?
That has been his character and attire for years. He has always been old west bounty hunter inspired (basically Clint Eastwood from The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly and A Few Dollars More).Apache said:

I know.... just seems very out of place and not very creative. (I never watched the animated stuff)Quote:

Mando and BOBF are both largely based on Westerns. Several episodes - the natives attacking the train, Mando and Cara Dune protecting the town from bandits, Mando fighting the entire town, come straight from that genre of TVs and movies and radio serials. Cad Bane belongs more in this series than anyone.Apache said:I know.... just seems very out of place and not very creative. (I never watched the animated stuff)Quote:

I get all that & am ok with reusing those familiar tropes. I don't have a problem with the character, It's his dress I'm referring to. Maybe it'll grow on me.Quote:

I dig it. For people unfamiliar with the animation, the instant adulation of "new" characters is probably a bit odd. Those of us who have watched CW and Rebels and BB are like falling in love with SW all over again when Bo Katan or Ahsoka or Cad Bane show up. When Ahsoka laughs and pats R2 on the head, it's a call back to 50 different scenes from The Clone Wars, but if you didn't watch them, it's a throw-away scene.Apache said:I get all that & am ok with reusing those familiar tropes. you guys do realize that the ENTIRE attraction of star wars was built by taking cool old movies and putting special effects on them, yes? And then using ground-breaking audio effects.Cromagnum said:Apache said:I know.... just seems very out of place and not very creative. (I never watched the animated stuff)Quote:

They literally designed him around Lee van Cleef's character in The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.

I was hoping Ashoka would drop the "This is the way" line on Mando. The Watch and the Jedi both have some pretty extreme ideals.
It feels in line with Ahsoka from Rebels.redline248 said:
I like Dawson as Ahsoka, but I feel like she's portraying the character slightly different than the animated version. Like, she's playing the character more aloof, or something. I'm not sure that's the best word for how I should describe it, but something along those lines.
Again, I don't dislike it...it's just different, to me.

You just gave me the perfect idea for the title of another spin-off…
He is no one.
He is everyone.
He is the galaxy's most feared bounty hunter.
He is…
"Citizen Bane"
Pretty sure he was referring the finale of St Elsewhere, where it was revealed that the whole show was in the imagination of a kid of one of the characters. Another pretty famous finale.

Touche. In my defense, I was still up at 5 AM my time and had been up all night writing. I admittedly saw "snow globe" and lazily thought "Citizen Kane."
That said, a bunch of old ass dudes can mock me all they want for not having seen a bunch old ass shows. Makes me feel relatively young for the first time in a while!
didnt mean my post to sound condescending or anything, it sort of reads that way. apologize for that. i just noticed it years ago and thought it was a cool concept, but also a reminder that our forefathers were pretty awesome. its hard to come up with something completely new thats worth a *****Cromagnum said:
I'm not complaining. I totally get it and totally agree with the majority of design choices.

Is they a guide to watching the animated shows without getting bogged in the fluff/poor episodes?
i just finished watching all of them. told my brother in law last night that i'd never do a rewatch of those bc of the time investment. i'm bookmarking the above link in case I ever want to do a rewatch. Thanks!powerbelly said:This is a good list:kapon said:

But I think even the bad episodes are worth watching.
