Rule One.

Pretty cool concept video of her stunt / wire work as Brie Larson's stunt double for Captain Marvel, which if I recall correctly, is the Entertainment Board's favorite superhero movie ever.

And yet another crap episode…

Total 38 minutes long… the recap alone was 1:30 minutes and 4-6 minutes of credits…

The where's my stapler guy from office space and Danny Trejo…. Come on now…. Seeing a rancor was cool tho…. That was the only highlight for me.

Also calling that ship the star cruiser….

Man, I'm going to have to lower my expectations.
I wonder if The Mandalorian was so good that The Book of Boba Fett was never going to match it. Additionally, Boba carries with him a lot more canonized details, which makes it easier to mess up as writers.

Wow I came here to say I loved the episode. We finally got an episode that was mostly in the "current" timeline. We are also starting to see Fett's motivation to be Daimyo of Tatooine.

I won't post a spoiler but I just want to say I called it after last week's episode (page 6).

I am loving how they are progressing Boba and his retinue. The show started off a bit slow but is definitely picking up steam.

I especially love the steam punk style gang in this last episode.

I feel like there was plenty of frustration with the Mandalorian, especially during S1.

This show is a mess, lol. I still have a hard time buying into Boba just kind of bumbling his way through this, so far. They make it out like he is a complete novice to the crime world.

The part where the water guy is like "stop the thieves" and then the thieves explain its only bc he charges too much and there's no work... We're back to video game quests.

Oh yay! I have a pet rancor!

Edit: I do want more of Wookie bad ass

I'm no criminal mastermind, but maybe the droid's big briefing on the state of the city should have been given day one on the job?

This episode sucked. The common denominator there seems to be Robert Rodriguez, as he didn't direct last weeks episode and it was good.

That swoop gang was completely out of place with their modern clothes and their "beat you over the head that it's a 1950s vehicle reference" swoop bikes. I'm pretty sure Eye Guy was wearing a blazer/hoodie combo at one point. They were so lame that I'm sure Disney will be announcing their spinoff series any day now.

That swoop bike "chase" was embarrassing, and I don't think they ever went faster than 5mph.

Stephen Root overcharging for water? Just go dig for those shells, they seem to be plentiful in the desert.

I was more interested in Danny Trejo: Rancor Trainer than anything else. Calling it now that the final scene in the season is Boba taming and riding the rancor for the first time.

BMF Wookiee gets the jump on Boba and… tries to kill him with no weapons?

We are at 1 good episode out of 3 and have what, four or five episodes left? And the plot is moving along at the pace of a snail, and has already gone off in several different directions. That does not bode well.

Look, you can't just wake someone up from a nap by stabbing them or shooting them in the head. You have to at least throw them around a bit so they have the opportunity to fight back. It's only sporting!

No idea how giant wookie managed to sneak through the entire castle to his private chambers, but whatever.

Boba is not struggling because he isn't smart. He is struggling because everything about the galaxy has been turned upside down. The old game has been replaced by a new one and unfortunately for him he wasn't present when the rule book got re-written. They kind of highlighted it when he rode the bantha into town and saw them putting the stormtrooper helmets on the pikes. Remember at that time he had no idea the Empire had fallen (he was off the grid either being digested or living with the TRs when the Empire fell). When he came back to Tatooine, after the events of Mando, he went to the place that used to hold power to claim it…but that power is gone and the game has changed.

He lived and exceled in the crime world with the underworld having to exist under Imperial rule. Now the outer rim is free and everyone is trying to claim power. No one really knows who is in charge...

But the droid that works for him knows all that information and even created a cool presentation for him. Seems like a great thing to establish before he made his first couple of trips into the city.

It's not a big deal, I'm enjoying the show. It just seems like the writers don't really know what they want Boba to be (or they're not clearly establishing it yet). Is he a fish out of water here? Is he a do-gooder trying to right some wrong? Is he just not a very good bad guy?

1. Do you send a Wookie to kill someone subtly? I think not

2. Boba has like 2 guards and bunch of dorks. Sneaking in is easy peasy.

such terrible writing

Yep, they made sure to obey the speed limit. If you look in the background, there is a white Bronco flashing his brights wanting to pass

Yeah, that was the least interesting "chase" scene in the history of film. And I'm pretty sure BMF Wookie destroys an unarmed naked human in about 15 seconds. Especially with those big Wookie claws we never get to see.

Another episode with another cameo of an actor that doesn't fit in the SW Universe. Maybe it's because they're speaking American English? Or maybe it's just because they're recognizable actors? I wonder if fans back in the 70s found Peter Cushing and Alec Guinness to pull them out of the experience, whereas for me they'll always just be Tarkin and Obi Wan.

I think he is a "has-been" bad guy, that is now a mostly good guy trying to get by and fake being a bad-guy.

The death of his TR tribe is gonna be a turning point though.

He went from introducing Salma Hayek in a saloon to being a Rancor salesman. Hope we will get Clooney and Tarantino sitting in the Mos Espa cantina

The obvious answer for Danny Trejo is that Robert Rodriguez directed this episode and Trejo is literally in everything RR does. I'm actually surprised it took this long in the series for his appearance.

Stephen Root is more interesting. I can see Root becoming familiar with RR due to Root's work in Mike Judge movies. Root was in Idiocracy, which was filmed in Austin (RR's stomping grounds) and RR offered Judge his VFX crew cheap for the effects work in Idiocracy to help him out with the budget. I can imagine RR hung around the set often since it was a local shoot and maybe became introduced to Root during filming.

However it happened, I'm happy to see them both.

Hopefully they introduced that 50's Vespa gang just so they can promptly wipe them out in a later episode.

That street chase was awful.

Just watched Episode 3.

Meh. Hope it's laying the groundwork for something bigger. Or some Hitchcock/peak Shymalan ending.

Here's the S1 Mando thread:

https://texags.com/forums/13/topics/3053242/8#discussion

Pretty interesting to read the reception of the first couple episodes. Seems to me more generally positive than Fett so far… which might be a product of it featuring completely unknown and new characters.
