Cool message from BDH. Apparently watched all the reactions to her episode last week.

Am I the only one who got a huge smile on my face watching Luke run with Grogu on his back... got a little dusty for a second. I had to fight it off, so my wife didn't notice, haha.

Also, the bar getting blown up reminded me of the opening to The Untouchables.

Watched it with the whole family tonight. They watched both seasons of Mando with me but none have gotten interested in this one until now.

Didn't notice the first time that they had the Krayt Dragon's ribcage in the bar in Mos Pelgo/Freetown.

If I could have captured the look on my daughter's face when Luke said the lightsaber had belonged to his Master Yoda, I would never have another sad day in my entire life.

I am so enamored with Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka. Her little interaction with R2-D2 was so great.

My younger boys were bouncing the whole episode, and legit BIG MAD at the cliffhanger ending.

That was wonderful. Better than last week's episode.

Cad Bane was awesome, and loved more Cobb Vanth as well.

I doubted we would actually see Luke and Grogu again until Mando S3, so the quality time with them (and R2!) was a great surprise...

But to get Ahsoka, oh wow, brought this on a whole other level.

They set up this storyline in the most atrocious way possible, but these last two episodes have been amazing.

Like CGI was at times way better than the Mando season 2.

This continues to be the best stuff put out in the Star Wars universe since ROTJ.

If they want me to be on board with Grogu throwing away personal attachments, I'm going to need to see some real convincing arguments for it from Luke.

Tell me you wouldn't make the same decision. I mean, have you ever seen the hotness that is Padme Amidala?

I watched that entire episode (and last week's) with a nice big smile. Definitely a lot of fan service in these last two. And curiously, only a short sequence with the titular character.

The wife and I debated whether Luke was Mark Hamill or his stand-in from the Mandalorian season 2 finale. I'm not sure why I forgot this studio's ability to de-age well-known faces, like Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Kurt Russell in the MCU.

I loved Ahsoka telling Luke that he was like his father, as well as the callback to Empire with the running and somersaulting with a backpack on Luke's back. Also loved the Episode I sound effects when the Naboo starfighter dropped out of lightspeed in orbit of Tatooine (engine sound effects). Also ... oh, hell, the entire episode was awesome.

Someone may have already replied to this, but imagine if he wasnt taken from his family and denied all attachments. So instead of only having one secret attachment, he just has a solid support group around him, and has experienced human emotions and knows how to handle it.

Well, the force either created him to bring balance, or Sidious created him to use as a tool, and the force let the Jedi think he was the one to bring balance.

Either way, it is the force's fault

I'd say that was 99.9% the stand-in, with Luke's face deepfaked onto the actor's face. Hamill nowadays is too old and pudgy to look that young and trim in the wardrobe he was wearing, and move the way the character moved.

What I'm curious about is how much of that was Hamill's own "de-aged" voice/line-readings vs the deepfaked voice they said they also used a bit last time.

Basically, I wonder how much present-day Hamill was involved in this performance, and how long will it be until they don't even need him anymore?

Honestly it's possible they didn't even need him this time. But I'm sure they always reach out for his input if even as a courtesy.

Yeah, you're probably right. I bet they have enough Luke "data" at this point to do this for decades if they want.

To be fair you never know where a spoiler is gonna come from. But the instant you saw the dusty silhouette of the hat you knew who it was. And if not, then you didn't care in the first place.
holy crap holy crap holy crap!!!! It was incredible!!!

The picture from IMDB was of luke skywalker…..when he showed up as early as he did and then I read this I realized the "reveal" hadn't happened yet….

I started shouting when he started walking in the desert…just awesome!!! And I really hope Olyphants character survives I really like him in this

I wonder if they filmed scenes with Mark in costume first, then let the stand in film them after to have a visual to base it off of.

Thought I'd share a text from my brother after he got to watch it tonight. Like me he's right in that OT wheelhouse, he was 6 when ANH came out.

"For us, though, this kind of storytelling is like a miracle. To see and hear Luke Skywalker - it takes the breath away."

And if I can just reiterate, what a friggin' time we're living in as Star Wars fans

Pretty crazy when you think about what this episode actually gave us...

Luke Skywalker
Ahsoka Tano
Cad Bane
Din Djarin
Grogu
R2-D2
Cobb Vanth
Boba Fett
Fennec Shand

All together, in a live-action series.

I am avoiding this thread like the plague until I actually get to watch the episode tonight….but dang it I went to IMDB to see the episode rating…..last weeks got a 9.4…..todays got a 9.8!!!

I am going to be SO gosh darn distracted until I get home to watch with the kids….saw the title and we've already had a discussion on who the stranger is coming from the desert….

My oldest said Cad Bane was in an episode of clone wars where the word "stranger" appeared in the title so when I told him Filoni was directing this one then he got really excited….

Argh!!!!!!!!
my 10 year old son called it!! I just remembered making this post this morning when we were contemplating on the title of this episode.

The past week has been the happiest and most unified I've seen the SW fanbase since Celebration Chicago
Well, we know good from bad, and the last 2 episodes were good. Real good.

Sw esb rotj - all great to mostly good
Prequels - good here and there, with better acting and graphics you could make 1.5-2 really good movies out of the 3 of them
Rogue 1 - great
Top 10 of clone wars - great even though cartoon
Tfa and solo - had a few good minutes here and there, but thats it
Mandalorian - good to really good
Last 2 episodes - really good.

Honestly its a relief - saving the sw universe from the other garbage.

would be before this point, as she quit training before/because she was pregnant,:

Organa, however, had visions of serving the galaxy in different ways and had another life calling to her rather than the life of a Jedi. But the catalyst of her choice to end her training was on the last night she was with Skywalker. While sparring together, Organa had a vision and sensed the death of her unborn son if she were to complete her Jedi path. While Skywalker hoped that his sister would resume her training later on.

She was his first "student", but not at the academy

however, I think ROTSW it is mentioned she gets additional training on Ajan Kloss after the First Order starts harassing the Resistance. No idea what that timeline is.

If they get Luke and Han together in the same scene, they'll have fixed one of the biggest complaints from TFA.

They need to do something in this series which takes a big dump all over Ep 7-9 to make it like those movies never happen.

Cad Bane was the best surprise of this episode.

And while de-aged Luke still isn't quite "there" yet, man, he looked/moved sooooo much better than he did in the Mando S2 finale. Hiring that deepfake specialist really paid off. To the point where I'm hoping they go back and redo last year's appearance. Whenever Luke wasn't talking, he looked utterly believable/photo-real. And while the mouth movements were certainly improved, that's the only time he still looked a little iffy. But it feels like we're only a year or two away from even that being totally figured out.

I got skewered here for saying the Luke CGI in Mando was distracting. As admittedly a casual Star Wars it didn't really give me "the feels" so I just was focused more on how it looked.

This was light years better. Pretty amazing how fast this technology is advancing. Casual star wars fan was able to watch and enjoy for the current story being shown without the need to be geeked out about the background of what I'm seeing.

Not sure if that made any sense.
