Are there going to be 15 more tusken raiders next week? This tribe has 9 lives. Only spent about 4-5 so far that we've seen. Darth Sidious has got nothing on this crew

They showed the chief dead, but what about the ninja TR? He/she may still be alive (using she because it's an actress / stuntwoman playing the role).

As far as wanting to be daimyo they've loosely alluded to "family". Boba is the head of the family as daimyo. He apparently lost his tribe (family) to bikers / syndicate types. He never had a real family before being adopted by the TRs.

Now he's out to get revenge for the loss of his family while at the same time building a new family.

I think the mistake was that they started the show off by him killing the current Daimyo, instead of building a small family first to establish his "crew" as a new power in the area. The writers (or in this case Boba) thought he could kill the head and assume the mantle and everything would flow into place. Now he's having to work for it.

To me it's bad writing because as a 40-50 year experienced bounty hunter dealing with criminals abd crime bosses; he should have a thorough knowledge of how power is taken and flows in this environment. But he comes across as surprised and ignorant of it all. Fennec keeps having to explain it all to him without rolling her eyes.

One thing I've thought about is that, while the last episode was just bad, but in general we all have perceived notions of what Boba Fett should be like based on our experience with him in past materials (be it movies novels or comics).

So when it doesn't live up to that expectation or even close, we are more disappointed at the end.

Take Mano, brand new character, we have no back story on him, no preconceived notions about how big of a BAMF he is, and we recognized slow episodes or poorly directed ones but in general the show had a good plot and movement.

With Boba Fett, none of us are getting what we expected and we are being let down. I think it's our own expectations that are making it worse than it is.

Someone or multiple people in the past have said, how do you give a character that had 15 mins of screen time over 12 hours of movies an entire series….

I don't agree with this at all. Yes, we were all familiar with BF's past going into this series, but it wasn't as if I sat down before the first episode and said "now this arc better be x, y and z because of what I know about BF or this shows gonna suck." I was open to whatever way they wanted to take it. It's just that the way they decided to take it may have been the worst possible alternative of all.

Hard to imagine now that we've been tainted, but if the "gang" had been a lot different, and let's just say on tricked out (non-hyper color) speeders would this episode still have sucked so much life out of the series?

I think the biggest struggle for me is the premise itself. Star Wars has never been so centrally located on one planet, much less one city on one planet. That's why it feels so off to me. Even though the Mandalorian is a smaller scale than the movies, he's still crisscrossing across the galaxy. Boba Fett not so much.
I think they're keeping Fett tied to a location to prevent it from being too much like the Mandolorian.

My biggest disappointment with the series is that I didn't expect (or want) Boba to be a 'good' guy. I kinda wanta a more anti-hero or at least chaotic-neutral kind of guy. The Boba we got is about redemption and forgiveness. Bland.

At some point in the series he's gonna have to turn into a ruthless, vigilante. I thought once he saw his "family" massacred that might do it, but something will set him off.

I'd like to see him "try" to do good, but fall back into his bounty hunter ruthless ways... I would have written this alot more like Sons of Anarchy. The "family" is lead by Boba and they do some proper criminal shenanigans while increasing their rep and establishing their territory. They are still "for hire" and smack down lesser gangs in the area while running spice, weapons, and targetted hits.

Man, this reminder just shows how incongruent the show is. He walks in and kills Bib for no reason, and then once the show starts he doesn't want to kill anyone.

We Star Wars nerds are often way to critical of most things Star Wars. You have to remember these are made in large part for kids. My 10 and 11-year-olds review of episode three:

That was terrible

My take - this is a hardscrabble planet, where everyone is struggling to make a living and survive. There's not a lot of water or much in the way of natural resources for much of anyone to get wealthy from. Sandstorms and constant heat/sun batter everything, leading to a worn look for everything.

So where is this teenage vespa gang getting their Power Ranger colored airbikes? The bikes don't fit in with the planet at all. And teenagers are more likely to live lives like Luke's, not as a biker gang.

Tricked out but beat up speeders would make more sense.

Even if he wasnt a badass, not every character needs all of their backstory filled in

All they needed to do, was basically make this star wars blacklist/csi/whatever and just have him hunt one bad guy each episode and destroy them and itd be awesome.

It really wasnt that hard.

I don't have much to add except I'm enjoying how much we're all making fun of the street gang. The reference/homage wasn't very clever to start with... and the execution was laughable.

Can someone explain to me how you manage to have such a bad chase scene in 2022? Were they filming the whole thing in that little volume set so they could only go 10 feet in a single shot? Is there anyone who can justify what we saw?
CoachRTM

It's very likely that they filmed it in their void.

Hence why there were those intermittent droids, etc. that they had to avoid. It almost felt like a video game like every "obstacle" was evenly spaced out.

I don't even mind the concept of fleshing out his backstory a little with the tusken raiders, and having them all eventually murdered.

BUT, that should mean his present timeline should be all about attaining power to get revenge on the Pykes (pikes?). He shouldnt be giving a damn about "mah respect".

So did the Pikes kill the Tusken Raiders or was it the other group that took the tribute from the Pikes?

The markings on the tent were from the Tatooine Hells Angels which the Pykes said they were paying protection/tribute to. So I assume it was the bikers, but at a minimum it was in collaboration with the Pykes since they passed the TR plans along to the bikers. And in reality the Pykes are probably paying nothing and the bikers are their own muscle

We are currently led to believe it was the swoop bike gang, but my guess is the Pikes hired them or are backing them. Pikes, based on their time in Clone Wars, ain't scared of no tatooine junk gangs.

Episodes one and two should have been the "flashback" episodes. Both episodes released on the same night, essentially as a single, hour-and-a-half long story. No flashbacta, no gimmick, we simply open with his hand coming out of the sand, exactly like they did, in the immediate wake of ROTJ. But then we see the entire, uninterrupted Boba/Tusken story play out across those two episodes - earning his place among tribe, helping them against the train, going through the ceremony, heading out on his own, etc.

The final ten-to-fifteen minutes of episode two are then Boba returning to the tribe to see them slaughtered and burned. But by who? We don't yet know. It's at that point that we lead into an organic montage/"recap" of the events of his participation in The Mandalorian, from his perspective, finally ending with him taking Jabba's throne. Scored to great music, has a real journeyman vibe, filling in a couple blanks along the way. The final scene of episode two is then Boba - with Fennec at his side - at last in a position to A) enact real change on Tatooine, and B) find who was responsible for the Tusken massacre and exact revenge by any means necessary.

So now we're heading into the next six episodes (for eight total - seven bugs me) - the "present day" story - with proper motivation for Boba Fett, right from the start of that story. Then, in episode three, there's both an assassination attempt on Boba's life - this isn't going to be easy - AND the Hutt siblings show up in the final scene to raise the stakes. This REALLY isn't going to be easy.

So... two episodes, released back-to-back on the same night, to establish backstory/motivation. Then one episode to establish/raise the stakes the next week, and we're off and running...

First, he shouldn't be fat.

Second, he shouldn't be clueless. They write him like he's a complete rube.

Then when you add stuff like the steampunk scooter gang, it's just incredibly offputting.

This isn't that hard. People want to revisit the world they already love. They want to learn more about an intriguing character they already think is really cool. Explore the world; build out the character in a way that preserves what we like about him while giving him depth.

But they keep doing stuff that forcibly takes you out of that world because it's so stupid and out of place, and they are taking away most of the mystery about the intriguing character while killing almost all of the cool factor.

It's like the exact opposite approach of what they should be doing on the two biggest things this series has going for it.

Okay, so... what if the whole Vespa gang thing is a setup for the audience? Maybe Boba will brutally murder them Keyser Soze style to shock and awe everyone in a climactic moment. That would make it worth it.

Don't we know who slaughtered the sand people? It was the motorcycle gang that Boba Fett whipped in bar fight in second episode. He stole their bikes and they used them for the train robbery.

They marked one of the tents with graffiti that looked like Chicago White Sox logo. They had tagged other stuff with same logo.

The Vespa gang is okay. Jury is out on them.

The chase scene was terrible. It appeared to be happening at 10 mph. And every stale car crash cliche was throw in there with tons of really silly Easter eggs. Just awful all around.

Other than that, I think Boba Fett is pretty good. Third episode was the worst.

All the political stuff is fine, but it's time for some bodies to start hitting the floor. I need a higher death count.

My take is the biker gang technically did it, but at the behest of the Pikes. Especially since they are the syndicate referenced as being promised Jabbas holdings.
Plus their masks look evil and kinda cool
