I liked it. Thought it was weird when they used fish eye lens for some shots.

Well, that was fun as hell.

Great opening / first dream sequence. I'm digging this Tusken clan - they look different than the ones we've seen before, and I like it when a franchise goes ost a monoculture impression a given race may have (although give me all the stereot sexy twileks please)

Musics was fantastic.

Feels good to have new Star Wars.

The mayor's majordomo didn't feel like star wars. Same way I felt about any sedaris' character.

Loved the Kamino and Geonosis callbacks right out of the gate. Seemed like different angles of young Boba going to his Dad's helmet on Geonosis than in AOTC - was it a different take of footage? CGIed Daniel Logan? Or maybe I just haven't watched AOTC in a while.

I always wondered if little Fett was holding his dad's head in that helmet... from these new shots looks like the helmet was empty. Which I guess is good. He still had to get the armor off his decapitated body... eww.

Actually it felt like a tiny sliver of Star Wars. It felt like Bea Arthur doing a cameo on the holiday special like it's an episode of Love Boat.

I think we've been conditioned to expect some huge surprise reveal like we got with Grogu in Mando. I thought it was fun even without that. I'm always psyched for new Star Wars content and trust Favreau and Co.

Agreed, but to me it was that he spoke perfect, American, sycophant English - he should have at least had a twileku or huttese accent

Is that what that was? I could tell something was off and couldn't put my finger on it. I guess they were trying to convey the vastness of the Dune Sea.

Would have been perfect if he had spoken Gungan

In the movie, you can see the shadow of the head fly in a different direction from the helmet.

And agreed on too many of the aliens speaking Galactic basic/English. Disney has some sort of weird fear of having any of the aliens speak alien languages. Probably don't want to make the Disney Superfans who are only watching because it's Disney do any extra work to read.

If you go to Disneyland in the next month or so, you can sit on Boba's throne. Ming-Na Wen regrettably not included.

I agree but Mando was just ok a large portion of the time and it still gave me the greatest Star Wars moments I've seen in decades.

Will see how it plays out.

Did it seem like they were trying to portray Boba as somewhat naive about the crime world? Felt like that to me, which I don't really find believable. He's gonna take over Jabba's empire but not know anything about what's going on?

Not overwhelmed or underwhelmed, just whelmed.

I was expecting more of a gray character though.

I felt a few scenes had some very dull cinematography - Fett standing stage left, Tuskens standing stage right. But I felt that way a few times during Mando as well, and I felt like those simpler scenes and episodes are always build-ups to bigger things in later episodes, like the old-time TV shows they are based on; simpler episodes used to establish the who and the what, and then later ones tell the how and the why.

Looking forward to finally digging in this weekend, but I found this tweet pretty funny...

Can't lie, I personally thought it was pretty bad. I loved everything about Mandalorian, so I've been super excited about this. But there was nothing that I really liked about E1 - I thought the acting was stilted, the action was exceptionally weak given the resources, and the story is less than engrossing so far.

It's only the first episode so I'm still very excited to keep watching and see what happens, but as a standalone show if I'm trying to be completely objective without giving undue credit for it being Star Wars - it wasn't that good at all.

Enjoyed it, but the parkour fight scene was just bad. And while I get there is a journey to explain how he is now, I'm still having some trouble digesting him as basically a straight-up good guy.

They also managed to make the Tuskens seem kind of rasta. Wtf

Mando was great from the beginning. Sure, there was some filler here and there, and I'm not going to give up on this so soon, it was just a let down.

The CGI for the Tusken Raider dog was pretty bad.

I wish they would have released 2 or 3 episodes to start, it was fine, but not enough to really be excited, pending how busy I am may give it a few weeks to watch a few in a row. That didn't really make me want to come back right away Wednesday.

Didn't care for episode 1. I'm not sure what it was but I didn't like it. One thing I will say is that it flew by so that was good. I'll keep watching as I know these shows take some time to get their legs.

I thought it was excellent because my imagination filled the gaps.

So, next episode I'll already be smiling.

There are definitely a few scenes where the CGI guys noticeably phoned it in.
