Ok, that does look fun without being cheesy like the Chris Pratt movies, but a completely different feeling than I was getting yesterday. That looks more like the Indiana Jones vibe that you were mentioning. Unfortunately, it looks like they did slip in a kid there for at least a little bit of the movie.

Was actually up super late writing/working and about to go to bed. Wasn't expecting this to drop until 9 AM Pacific. Checked Twitter one last time before turning out the light, saw that the trailer dropped early, watched it once, posted it, then watched it two more glorious times. NOW it's officially bed time…

There's like… one shot of a kid. Who, clearly, is not a main character.

Wasn't knocking it, just responding to the guy who wanted no kids.

Perfectly happy with and love the color palette they went with. So much more vibrant. Very interested to see which direction they go with the failed dinosaurs

I was on board until the spinosaurs started collectively hunting with the mosasaur. That might push my suspension of disbelief a little too far, but I hope I'm wrong.

I don't know, maybe I just have Jurassic Park fatigue but I thought the trailer was just ok. It kind of feels like a JP 3 retread with better visuals. The dialogue in the trailer seemed on par with the later Jurassic world movies and not in a good way.

I'm sure I'll probably end up seeing it, I didn't get very excited from the trailer.

That's not a kid. Looks more like a 4'5" turkey to me.

I can't quite explain why that trailer didn't quite do it for me. Maybe too many little... I don't know what to call them but they're not jokes exactly, like Marvel-esque quips. "More or less?" "nobody is dumb enough to go where we're going" "none of what you just said is good" "I suppose we could try and get it from the parent, but..." "maybe we should make it quick" "they're raptors"

I don't know if that makes sense because I'm actually excited for the movie, but the trailer just seemed a little too... i dunno, formulaic maybe.

I'm kind of with you. Looked really good, but just a little to quip-y.

Visually, it looks great.

Plot sounds much better than the past 3 movies.

But another kid has somehow tagged along? Come on. Stop it.
Thanks and gig'em

I agree with the criticisms posted and I also don't buy Scarlett as this badass mercenary type, especially in the shot where she looks like she is 5' tall next to the guy.

I also don't get the "make the audience afraid" vibe at all from this trailer.

Additionally, why spend the time extracting the DNA from the egg instead of just taking the egg?

The key to these deals is to make the trailer overly serious but then the actual movie is a little more lighthearted. Let's call it the "Fast and the Furious" approach.

For a first teaser trailer I wouldn't have shown the dinosaurs at all other than one right at the end maybe.

I'd have had them standing around the table breaking down the "heist" part of the plot, but you leave out the specifics.

"This could save millions, but there's only one place to get it, i know i know but how, and why do I have to go. You're the only one that knows how to extract the DNA... I could teach you... no there's no time, we have to leave tonight... blah blah blah... but is it safe? *exchange glances* cut to jungle, show an egg in a nest, dinosaur roar, cut to black, jurassic world logo"

To that I would say these are all apparently mutants to some degree, experiments gone wrong, species/iterations that weren't fully baked, etc. So certain natural tendencies/rivalries might not apply on this island.

The foot that comes down out of the mist looks like it puts it's knuckles down like an ape. I tried to pause the video but couldn't quote get it right.

Again, upon another rewatch, it's only two shots, and in one she's on a boat with people who seem not to be in the rest of the movie much either. If I had to guess, that's either the main characters' transportation boat to and from the island - or - some kind of local boat that answers an emergency call or something. Clearly, though, there are no tag-along kids for the majority of the movie.

Jurassicfield?

Could be a sick crossover.

Looks okay. I didn't see anything that says "scary" but oh well.

July 2025 is going to be a busy movie month, between this, Superman, Fantastic Four, and Mission Impossible.

So, story time. When my son was about 7 or 8 years old, my wife and I decided he was old enough to watch Jurassic Park. My daughter was only 4, though, so we decided she was too young. We waited until she was asleep and then pulled up JP. My son was kind of enjoying it, but also got pretty scared during the TRex scene. Then comes the part where the Trex eats Gennaro on the toilet, and we hear a loud scream from behind us... "YES!!!!!!!". My daughter had snuck out of her room and was watching from the hall, and she absolutely loved it. Almost ten years later and has seen all the movies, read the book multiple times, and loves to collect fossils. She even got a dinosaur tooth as a gift from her aunt.

Anyways, long story short, my daughter and I are both 100% in for this, and we will both be rooting for the dinosaurs!

In a similar vein to Austin's story, I'll say that when I saw JP on opening day in 93, my oldest had not yet come into my life. So while there were scenes that caused me some anxiety while watching, it wasn't that big of a deal. Flash forward to many years later when they re-released JP, I forget the year, maybe 2010 or thereabouts, and it might have been with 3D tacked on, my oldest was at A&M and my youngest was in the 4-6 age range. I didn't take her to the theater for that re-release. During the kitchen/raptor sequence, I was thinking there was no way in hell I was going to let her watch this any time soon. Perspectives change massively when you have become a dad.

Two weeks later the family (minus the kid at A&M) was sitting on the couch watching JP. My youngest loved it. Nothing about it bothered her. She has seen them all and has loved every one of them (although my personal mileage has varied with this series).

Curiously, she told me she had a lot of problems watching Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Kong Skull Island when she was in middle school.

Didn't they steal a t rex egg or a baby in one of the other movies, and were hunted down? I would say that there is no smart way of getting dino DNA, but I would think that just taking a sample vs taking the egg would be the "safest" way, assuming you could get in and get out without being detected, which would make for a boring movie, so of course they get detected.

This was pretty much her exact reaction. She's usually gets pretty scared during movies, but for whatever reason, she's all about dinosaurs eating people. I just told her there's a new JP movie coming out this summer and now she's all excited watching the trailer.
