He could sense feelings, read minds (as he did with Rey to discover Luke's location), freeze/levitate people, and use force lightning. Those combination of powers are only possessed by Sith with deep knowledge and training with the Force.

Not necessarily, it would rarely be a useful thing to know and would be different depending on the size of the ships involved.

I jsut want to know this...

If Snoke is 75 years old... and this is 30 years after RotJ... then Snoke is a Force wielder in his prime years (25-45) during the rise and fall of the Empire.

Even if he's in the unknown regions, how is he unaccounted for?

Also, I think it's obvious that Snoke is no Sith for those wondering about yellow eyes.

Dark Force wielder? Sure. Powerful? Maybe. But not a disciple of the Sith Teachings and way of life, directly.

Maybe that's what Kylo is going after now... Sith information / training (holocrons) to help him bring the Galaxy under his thumb.

According to cinema snobs, Rian Johnson teasing the audience with answers only to then snatch them away is just good filmmaking and in no way an indication of poor writing or story development. /sarcasm

It's a joke that this powerful force user at the head of Palpatine's empire has had his entire backstory just brushed away.

Snoke was reading it right, he just was clouded by his arrogance (or maybe Kylo knew enough to cloud what part of him was doing).
Snoke read that Kylo was turning his lightsaber, pointing to his true enemy (he was doing both sabers at the same time), and ignited the lightsaber (this is the part Snoke got wrong).

Maybe a Jedi that escaped Order 66, or rather survived a brutal assassination attempt, given his disfigurement.

Shhhhhhh, quiet now. That stuff's not important. What's important is introducing a new character that reminds us that poor people are important too, and that the rebels are the good guys because they're fighting for what they love, not against what they hate.

My God, I'm getting teary-eyed just remembering those words from that vital new character.

Anybody see it in Cinemark XD? I want to take my kids after school today but XD is the only good time. I am wary of such a big screen for a movie not shot for it.

My other option is a studio grill which I generally don't care for since they don't lower the lights enough.

It's growing on me with time. On first viewing, it was just so jarring. Your brain just got done processing that the last 10 mins of him was just a force fakeout, "Hmm, oh I get it, that's cool then wait a second... he's dead. From that? Oh man, I just wasn't ready."

It's like when you know Grandpa will be gone someday and it likely will be soon, but if it happens abruptly and you were not expecting the call it hits you very differently than if you were in the hospital by his bedside.

So if we're assuming that once at light speed ships can't hit anything, I still think knowing "how far away do I need to be so I don't crash into it" would be a pretty common thing to know. It would matter for jumping to light speed near other ships, moons, random space junk, etc.

It's not like Holdo was sitting there crunching the numbers, she seemed to have a very good idea of what was about to happen.

It was shot for IMAX, so it should be fine. I thought it looked fine at the Bryan IMAX except that the CGI stuff was really obvious in 3D.

I guess I'm a little underwhelmed as a whole. After one viewing, possibly my least favorite non prequel movie.

I have to echo the general dislike of casino planet and the codebreaker plan, space Leia, etc.

If I could rewrite that 3rd quarter portion of the movie...
1. There's a spy on board the cruiser, feeding info to the First Order.
2. Leia gets wounded.
3. Vice Admiral Wedge Antilles takes command.
4. Wedge Puts Poe Dameron In his place, because he used to be that same hotshot pilot. Doesn't alienate him, puts him in charge of the transport fleet.
5. Finn and Rose figure out that there's a spy.
6. The Resistance begins abandoning the cruiser, but the spy stays behind, letting the First Order know about the cloaked ships.
7. Wedge and Finn go after the spy, finding a tall blonde woman.
8. She says "FN-2187" and Finn realizes that it was Captain Phasma all along.
9. Big brawl on the bridge between Finn, Wedge, and Phasma. Phasma is killed, Wedge is mortally wounded.
10. Finn tries to save Wedge, but he refuses, and as Finn escapes, Wedge sets up for the hyperspace suicide run.

Boom. Fan service, no casino planet, Phasma is slightly more interesting (but still dead), no ultimately pointless Benicio del Toro or Laura Dern appearances.

I just assumed they were talking about a mole, but I don't think it would have made any sense for the Mole to be a high ranking officer in the First Order.

Make it simpler. Rose was a criminal code breaker, now works in manual labor as punishment. She promised her dead sister she would turn her life around, and did. Finn has to get her to break that promise.

Finn and Rose still get captured, but movie ends with cliffhangers: Luke walking out to face walkers, Finn and Rose being set up for execution.

Only issue with that is that you could never show the spy before the reveal b/c a lot of people (especially the nerds) know that G. Christie is playing her. Kind of hard to hide her in the background due to height so you would literally just never show her.

Somehow she made it from the trash compactor inside Starkiller Base to Snoke's ship.

Is my idea great? No.

I don't mind the idea of a mole, that's what i assumed we had when they made the "on a string," comment. That or they had somehow caught on that signal that tracker was sending to Rey.

But it couldn't be someone who was an officer in the First Order. It would have had to be a new character.

Why? XD isn't like IMAX. The film fits the whole XD screen and looks amazing.

The resistance doesn't appear to exactly be working with the latest technology, but yeah I suppose you're right.
I'm not taking up for it, just saying that this is how they will fix it.

They're also going to have to fix the hyperspace kill everything option they just opened up, so I expect that this will be addressed soon. The logistics of explaining away why that tactic is not used more often will be too cumbersome if they leave it unaddressed. Of course, they may just pretend it never happened the way things are going so far.

Somehow the Empire was able to erase histories, institutions, and memories from people in an unending universe.

Rian is out and about doing interviews like crazy explaining the story and why things were done that way.

I think if you have to spend half of every interview explaining what you meant and context, you failed as a director.

there were only like 10,000 Jedi for the entire galaxy at its prime. so 10,000 vs billions, maybe trillions. and it is not like every planet newscast covers events going on on every other planet.

No, he's having to do this because a vocal minority of rabid Star Wars fans have been taking a **** all over his film and now he's having to come out and justify himself.
