Two big differences in the Cubs and Astros. Their Cy Young winner followed it up with an All Star caliber season. Not as dominant, but still very good. Their CF performed up to his capabilities.
We are such a different team if Keuchel and Gomez hadn't shat the bed this year. Not on the Cubs' level, but definitely a playoff team, and who knows what happens once you get there.

I know many in the media were putting Correa in the preseason MVP race, but the kid didn't even have a full season under his belt. Hell, he had never played above A ball until 2015.

If you put all of their best skills together, the new player still doesn't move the needle in free agency.

It's not AJ Reed and Jason Castro so I like it.
For C I like the idea of calling the Yanks and seeing if they'd move Brian McCann. Lefty bat and him and Gattis can split time at DH/C.

Definitely happy with him. Perfect 3rd/4th outfielder. Needed a left handed contact bat in the lineup.

Saw an mlb trade rumors article earlier where he barely missed a couple of milestones and therefore ended up in free agency.
So he's the fall back Lunhow will sell us when they don't pony up for Cespedes as soon as they find out what he's asking.
I can hear it now...We were prepared to spend but we're not ready to commit long term to a player of that age. When Aoki became available we were also able to save to be able to get some more depth later on in the process. He's a great player and fills some needs and we're extremely happy.

I don't think cespeds is happening. He's going to be way overpaid. He's not elite and he'll be getting paid what the elite of the elite are worth. Didn't he just opt out of 24 M a year or something along those lines.

.350 OBP isn't bad and he bats left handed, something they desperately need. With Gomez and Rasmus gone and questions in CF and LF its a good pick up.
