Are they taking out seats?

Looks like those seats above the bar area have been removed?
It looks like they might be putting in a party deck (as mentioned before) or private seating for the banquet room behind there. My company had that room one evening as part of our sales conference and a block of seats in front of the banquet room.

Any updated pictures?

I'm so ready for April LOL. I'm already going through withdrawals. I love football, but baseball is the best sport known to man. Especially Astros baseball.

The Astros Snapchat has videos and more up-to-date pictures. Looks like that'll be the place to follow the construction.

It's the base offer for a QO. If the Astros offer anyone a QO, it will be for $17.2 million. Last year it was $16 and they offered Rasmus and he accepted it. If you make a QO and the player doesn't accept it, you receive a compensation draft pick.

gotcha. Any current astro we are going to make a QO to?

I sure hope not. Are any of our free agents worth $17M a season? Are any 100% guaranteed to turn it down?

Also, check out https://twitter.com/astros for more construction pics and a video talking about the center field renovations.

It sounds like Tal's hill dirt and the wall pads will be available for sale. Maybe someone can buy a bunch of dirt and build a mini Tal's hill in their backyard.

The only one I would consider would be Luis Valbuena. You have to think he's searching for a 3-4 year deal at about $12-$15 million per year. 1 year at $17 and I bet he would walk and we would get an extra pick.

Agree. I'd really like to have him back with the LH bat & to play 1B and/or 3B. To me, he's too valuable to let walk away.

Hello clickbait.

I'll attend ANY baseball game in ANY park.

But for the record I like the ballpark in Arlington even though it's hot as hell most of the year.

  • Not bad for a guy that is probably worth 4x that. Him and Altuve are absolute steals right now.

I just realized Bautista, Encarnacion, & Saunders are free agents this year. Take them off the books and TOR's team payroll is ~120 M. Add them back on the books and their team payroll would rocket to ~180 M. I'm not sure they're willing to go there with a bunch of aging guys. I think bats is the most likely to hit the market.

It's a good market to buy a bat. Not a good market to buy a Starter.

I think this is where our flexibilty with Bregman and Gurriel comes into play.

Bregman can play 3B or LF
Gurriel can play 3B, LF, or DH (maybe 1B)

We can sign a bat at a variety of positions and move those two around as needed. We're not cinfined to only needing a bat at X position.

Saunders would be perfect LF for us and great replacement for Rasmus. Unless we can pay significantly more, being that he is Canadian he might want to stay in Toronto.

Encarnacion would be a good choice as he hit well against the Rangers this year (much better then Bautista and younger). He could play 1B on non-Reed days and be full time DH.

Encarnacion is going to command something crazy like 165 M over 6.

He will be 34 when spring training starts next year... Do not want to do that.

Pujos got 10 yr(s) / $240,000,000 when he was 32. He's going to want a long term deal.

    Prince got 9 yr(s) / $214,000,000 when he was 28.

    Votto got 10 yr(s) / $225,000,000 when he was 31.

    Tex got 8 yr(s) / $180,000,000 when he was 29.

    Adrain Gon got 7 yr(s) / $154,000,000 when he was 30.

    Crash got 7 yr(s) / $161,000,000 when he was 30.

So maybe he'll get closer to 140 over 6.

Edwin ain't Albert. But I know some team will give Edwin that contract in hopes he's a 40 homer/100 rbi guy for the next 3-4 years.

I don't see how the 'stros could do some kind of mega 6-year deal when the young stars will be free agents before 2022

I wouldn't mind adding a proven bat to a five-year deal. That gets them off the books when Correa hits free agency. You could even add a team option for a sixth year in case it looks like Correa will be leaving.
