People don't watch soccer to see a physical game -there are no highlight tapes of hardest tackles and most fearsome fouls. Nobody is going to talk about how cool it was when Kompany held Torres. People will talk about Ba's goal. Even people who aren't "soccer fans" can appreciate the skill involved. People want to see individual skill and beautiful combination play. Allowing skilled players to get kicked up and down the pitch is not a recipe for growing interest in the game. It is also not a recipe for England to have success on the international level.
My problem with the referee isn't that Man City got all the calls and Chelsea got none. My problem is the level of physicality that he allowed. Man City took better advantage of that as they should've and don't fault them for that.
