Anyone have experience with the merino 210 zip off bottom?
Yes. Kuiu's 210 merino blend is not my favorite. It doesn't have a lot of stretch and can very tight round the calf. (My brother couldn't even wear them).
I do really like their zip-away bottoms, but prefer the 145 merino or the 200 Peloton synthetic.

I remembered today why it's bad for Sean to just "swing by" Cabela's for no good reason. ... As I stumbled across Sitka in the bargain cave. Sure enough I'm now the proud owner of a Kevin puffy coat. $270 MSRP for $120.
I finally pulled the trigger on an EE Convert downtek 850 treated custom made -10 Bag. Hope it gets to me before my muley trip. If not, I guess I'll just stay home and go dove hunting.

Finally getting around to going through some pics from my recent Colo scouting trip.
The Silvertip with Titanium Stove... got the tepee up to 72 degrees when it was in the 40s outside... all with half wet, half green, sappy twigs. Starting a fire at treeline is not enjoyable. Having a fire at treeline is enjoyable.

I was mad at myself when I dropped that coin. I actually patted myself on the back when I was out there. That whole setup is lighter than the other tent(s) I was using previously and lighter than my old mummy bag.

3 bulls across the divide trail, but in 76. I'll never get to hunt that country but it was worth the effort to see a little bit of it. Really elky.
The 2 bulls at close range (17-30 yards) were in 77. I plan to focus on muleys for my first trip but it's gonna be hard to not hike the extra 1.5 from base camp to the general area where I saw them. Lots of deer but not many by the lake I fished.

Yeah, as I was headed back to my camp after watching those 3 bulls I see a dude fly fishing... in MY LAKE! He wasn't there when I hiked by and he was already in the process of packing up and leaving. We chatted for a while . He made the point of telling me that he was not a hunter but he does a lot of conservation work. Asked me why you don't see many deer or elk anymore on the trails.

Late night trip report. My "hunting buddy" and I were supposed to go scope out a new unit, but due to storms canceled that plan. Due to possible rain excuses he also bailed on going to check the game cameras I put up last month...luckily, i'm not afraid of the "possible rain" that never happened today. Got to test the new exo pack and InReach out...One hella long day trip
Also got attacked by a Grouse. SOB flew out of a log 5ft away and came about 6in from my face, had no idea what it initially was. I yelled and swung a trekking pole at it, missed and hit a tree with the pole. It then proceeded to "charge" me and follow me for about the next 30yds. Damn thing never backed down. Gave me a hell of a scare and now I need new trekking poles...Anyways, here's some of the game camera highlights to enjoy. Needless to say, I'm fairly elk horny now.

As an aside, I bought a pair of trekking poles for my recent excursion and I am a believer. The poles and the Alaska Guide Creations chest rig are needs, not wants.... for me at least.
