Yeah, the first pic I found was from photobucket, which sucks ass and wouldn't post. Once I found one from Imgur it was all good.
i sound enthused but its really anger because im still mad about missing one with my bow.
Every miss gets ya 1 step closer to the next good hit.
ive stuck two of his buddies since then.
this thread has not improved my daily productivity much.
Well I've never even slung an arrow at an elk.
I've had 4 heaping helpings of elk tag soup spread out over 5 separate hunts.
Although I've seen elk on every one of those trips, I have come to realize that I didn't even have a snowball's chance in hell on the first 2.
All public land DIY.., and a blast every time. My last 3 attempts have been solo and that has been a game changer as far as getting into real opportunities.

It took me 11 years and 5 tags.
This year will be 5th tag over 7 years. Sounds like a lock.

Join the club. One kill (270"ish), one miss uphill on a 300+ bull, one miss on another 300+ bull at 10 yards after my arrow deflected off a tiny tree limb, and then last year a misfire on a 6x6 during MZ season (primer popped but didn't ignite the powder).

Very nice. And I only hate you a little bit. Just slightly.
All that hate keeps me warm. 
But I seriously got really lucky on this deer. I Spotted a few does as soon as I got up to the top of that canyon coming up from the low trail... Was pissed bc I thought I was going up into the next bigger one. He showed himself after about 15 mins... Had to manuver and wait another hour for a shot as he was in and out of view. Had a quick 120 yard neck shot thru a small opening. Miss! Nooooooo! (After the fact I found that I'd Grazed the top of neck) He spins, runs a j hook and comes back into same damn opening. Boom! Double lung. Saw his off leg dangling but Had to sit for an hour before I had the nerve to go after him (even though I saw all the does bail out of that drainage without him)
I'm not sure you wanna hear this, but I got the bug to try LM because of your TA threads.

Went ahead without my indecisive friends and put in my CO tags this year. Guess I can't complain about the $200ish for all my resident tags. Should have enough to keep me busy between archery elk, rifle elk, rifle mule deer, and some pronghorn mixed in

And 06... Robbie's book is really good and you will enjoy it... but Dwight Schuh's "Hunting Open Country Mule Deer" will rock your socks off. You absolutely have to read it. Way more applicable to bow hunting... not as focused on "trophy bucks".

Nope. But I do not expect it will be long. Just have to make some time in the evenings to go stick some hogs. I've seen some big practice boars around and am eager to see what sort of penetration I can get.
