Sean has awesome burger places to choose from, but the Mexican places may literally try to kill you. If you ever hear something to the effect of "sauce....with cheese" (Log can give the exact wording), just leave.

And if you haven't had a Jiffy Burger in Smith Center, KS after a morning of chasing bah-stardo roosters, well, WB is good, but Jiffy takes the cake in the moment. Along with some Elvis memorabilia.

That experience is exactly why between me and my 2 cousins, we showed up at our drop camp in Colorado with 27 rolls of toilet paper. I'm not kidding. Granted, I still ended up having to sacrifice a 15 year old leather glove one morning. And the highlight of the trip (other than shooting a bull), was the look on my cousin's face when he realized we all left camp with no crapper paper, and he was looking at either grass or wads of snow (he had all really fancy gear and wasn't cutting). Flip side, wet or dry wood, getting a fire started was never remotely an issue.
Don't forget your toilet paper.

That was NOT my Mexican food place, it was RR88s. I have some very excellent Mexican food places.

Small packs of wet wipes are your best friend. They take up almost no space and can also be used to get deer or dusky grouse blood off your hands. I'm sure it would work for elk too but I have no idea.
Ohh, there were no shortages of wet wipes. That and Goldbond Medicated are awesome.
Log, I'm sad for you that we've never made it far enough West for you to eat at The Chubby Pickle.
Maybe next year (barring a miracle this year).
That place in Downs is awesome....even if you do have to almost volunteer to go back and cook yourself.
Wyoming draw results are up for antelope and deer, drew unit 15 for antelope. There wasn't really any suspense because we applied to a unit with 3% odds as our first choice and a 100% unit as our second, but it's the first western tag I've applied for and first I've drawn so still was eagerly clicking refresh right at 10am MST. Unit 15 is almost all private land but, we are pretty fortunate we know someone with a private ranch we have access to hunt.

Successfully drew a speed goat tag. I was virtually guaranteed a successful draw - private land only tag in Area 29 - but the suspense was still there. I'm excited. This will be my first western state hunt. It won't be anything like the crazy back country elk hunts a lot of you guys talk about, but it's a start. Goal is an elk hunt in the next few years.

And we're pretty much on the same page. Antelope hunt in 2017 to give us an extra year to obtain gear plus figure out the logistics of loading up a truck and driving to hunt 1000 miles away. Then elk and/or mule deer in the next couple of years.

Yep, was wondering for a second if my buddy had a second TA handle that I didn't know about.
Y'all gonna be guided or DIY?
We are hunting with the landowner but he is a friend, so not really "guided." A few months ago I thought we would be scraping the bottom of the barrel for 0 point units with limited entry but this opportunity presented itself. We were kind of looking for a DIY experience so after we tag out I think we may go do some camping in other parts of WY on public land and chase grouse/chukar/ducks and try to catch some trout.

Drew Region J deer that I added as a third choice on a whim. Draw odds for my first choice changed this year after being consistent for the last three. But, I've got another point and a tag!
I'm going to have to do some homework for Region J, lots of private land. Any of you Wyoming residents familiar with Areas 59, 61, 64, or 65 (Region J)? We may be looking into paying for private land access if needed.

I purchased the Wyoming chip two years ago for an antelope hunt. I haven't used the app since then. I opened the app just now, when I tried to view my Wyoming layers it sends me to a subscription screen. I then logged into my online account and it had no record of me owning Wyoming.
Do you have to purchase each state yearly?

I don't have the chip but I bought the online map membership for Wyoming and that is an annual subscription fee.

Depends on what you bought. If you buy the microSD for your GPS then it's good as long as you want to use it, but it's not updated year to year. If you're using the online version or the App then it's an annual subscription.
I think this is where my confusion came from. I have an Android phone with expandable memory. So I downloaded the app to my microSD card along with the Wyoming map layers. I also saved a big chunk of the data for offline viewing to the same microSD card. So while I called it a Wyoming chip that's not really what I had.

Similar story. Landowner will be with us and helping us out, so I'll call it semi-guided. When we're not hunting, we'll be two extra sets of hands around the ranch while we're there. Might make it up into the mountains for a day trip too if we tag out early.

Do it and do all your research at your leisure. Save the research and points as PDFs if you need to. There's a couple of websites that let you make your own maps. You could transfer any info you there for storage.

Oh, the research and waypoint storage on GE has already begun. But this hunt is all tied around a business trip for me that may/may not materialize.
I know you are a research junky, but believe me, you have nothing on Sean....there is a reason he is single.
