Isn't everyone on the cloud connected?
I thought automatic cloud backup was the default for basically all Android phones.
What this statement ignores, even if true, is that those being held do not have access to their phones nor "the cloud"/Internet. So the point is moot.

Not necessarily moot, as it depends on the individual's phone, plan, settings, etc. Off the top of my head, I can think of two friends' families who share plans and iTunes accounts. They regularly share music, photos, etc. such that Dad can take son's baseball pics and Mom can instantly see and share while traveling. It's not impossible to think a wife, girlfriend, husband, etc may have access to something snapped that day.

I'd also opt for hitting the floor versus getting the phone out if shots were fired. With that many people, that many clubs, the fact it was Twin Peaks, I could easily imagine someone taking a selfie, group photo, or anything that puts the camera ready. If the groups squared off at all in the parking lot or wherever, it's not impossible to think the world star hip hop factor might have started a video or two.

But Galveston attorney Susan Criss, who represents several of the bikers, told us in an email that an assistant McLennan County district attorney received texts about the waiver idea from Lannen, and that the ADA read the texts to Criss, her colleague, Looney, and two McLennan County District Court judges. Yikes.

This waiver thing is really strange.

Very strange. Kinda sounds like Lannen was suggesting to the DA's office that they should limit county and city liability by linking lower bonds to the waiver, but that the DA's office declined to go there. The question is why would she care if the county was sued?

Other than her fiancee being employed by the county?

But, that is such a dumb reason to get yourself in such deep caca. And, if you care that much about your fiance's employer, why then represent some of the arrested bikers?

Perhaps my tendency toward logical thinking is getting in the way of figuring out her thought process?

I mean people have done much dumber things for much more flimsey reasons. Maybe there was something else involved. No clue why anyone would think that waiver was a good idea when there are millions possibly at stake with multiple civil rights violations in play.

It seems like with her fiancee being a SWAT officer in her county, she would likely be friends with many cops and her job as a defense council would be difficult.

if all she did was text someone the idea about trading lawsuit rights for reduced bail, and thats as far as it got, would she really get in any trouble for that?
I would think not. If her own client signed one at her suggestion, that may be problematic, but suggesting litigation tactics to a prosecutor is not unethical, even if the tactic is unconstitutional. If the prosecutor used the illegal tactic, he doesn't get to say, Lannen suggested it." He owns it.

Texts? This is blown way out of proportion. That seems to be the norm for both sides at this point.

Don't let this sideshow distract from the real issues in this case, that over 150 people were arrested , charged, and given exorbitant bail without any individual probable cause determinations. This other stuff is just reality TV for defense lawyers. Paul Looney is a damn fine lawyer, but his grandstanding on this issue is not helpful.

Not nearly as bad as violating civil rights.

And I haven't seen anyone that I think it intentionally throwing misinformation except maybe the Waco PD Minister of Information.

Have you seen proof of intentional misinfo?

I have not doubt that he has been wrong but to say it's intentional is another matter.

So outside that one single press release by one single lawyer, what misinformation has been spread by the bikers that were arrested? How does that one single press release by one single lawyer show that both sides are ****ting the bed?

The police were wrong on tons of things and I definitely believe that I could make a case that they were intentionally misleading the public about a few things, especially about the weapons found (which they put out mis information several times about several specific things.)

Proof that would satisfy you? Probably not. Proof that Waco PD was more interested in getting their narrative out to the media than getting things correct? Yes.

Since some pages back, an article was posted with an alleged eyewitness account from a Cossack who was supposedly there, I thought I would post this other version I read today. I'm not endorsing it, or saying I believe it (or the other), but I thought I'd present the other side of the story.

That reads like bull****. 1000s of rounds? Right.

Wow! Check out this video from the linked article above. It's an attorney who has interviewed multiple witnesses, and it's a compilation of their accounts of what occurred. Pretty compelling, and if even only partially true, it would be damning to the Waco authorities involved in the shootings and its aftermath.

The longer it takes for the facts and evidence to be shared with the public, the more likely the guilt and perhaps even conspiracy comes into focus. Something stinks in Waco!

Within that link was this YouTube video. I've supported Waco PD on this pretty much since the beginning of this thread, but as more and more "eyewitness" info comes out it is beginning to look worse and worse for the police.

That reads like bull****. 1000s of rounds? Right.

IIRC, WPD initially claimed there were thousands of weapons there, too. Bull**** is coming from both sides. I know experienced combat vets who can't tell you how many rounds they have fired from their own mag in a firefight. Hell, WPD couldn't even tell you how many cops fired their weapons for several days, let alone how many rounds they fired. I'm not going to blast an eyewitness for not counting incoming rounds. Hell, every time I've been shot at it felt like thousands of rounds too.

Again, I'm not endorsing this story, or saying it's true. But that's not the statement there that is going to make me call BS on the whole account.

I live in Waco and know some involved. Couple are neighbors....... What's weird is the Voodoo in the coss is an ex booze fighter, but knowing him I couldn't see him being a cop bc of criminal past. I could see as a informant...... Look at John Arnold on arrests. That's him. Now, he's always went by voodoo. Dunno if they made him change when he started riding with the Cossacks or want. But it all sounds crazy fishy.
Comment on that Youtube video.

Bowtie guy blames Voodoo who is thought to be an undercover cop.

This is John Arnold that was arrested.
