Unless you are going to stage everything (like a real movie) I would not recommend DSLR for causual video shoots.
1st, it's a pain to hold still.
2nd, As GS pointed out, the sensor gets hot after about 15m
3rd, The AF on most of them is not good for moving subjects. You're better off planning everything out (including where everyone will stand/move too) so you can plan the focus points ahead of time and then manually focus
wiki focus pullerI've tried using the video on my D7000 and while it looks good when I can manage to hold it still, shooting my son running track last night was difficult at best. It just does not track subjects that move well enough in video mode.
