I am working on creating a team of pachys (they're going to implement dino grouping at some point in the future) and use them for taming. Think it'll be hilarious to attack a rex or spino with a herd of pachys. Or, dump dinos into their pen and place bets on how long till they are knocked out.

Ugh, after you left I thought we were going to lose everything last night. I was mining oil and pearls in the deeps with the plesiosaur, and low air snuck up on me. I tried to jump on the plesiosaur to quickly surface, but got tangled up in the rocks and the wall (the side of the ocean map) and died. Pants came down to get me on Bruce, but then his game crashed or something and he died before he could get back in.

Now, both our bodies and both our big fish were on the ocean floor, on passive. While Pants and I made our way back there (I kept dying because I could swim down, but by the time I got to the bottom I was completely out of air), Wee saved the day on the frog. That little green frog can SWIM! We got *most of our stuff back (apparently some of my useless crap was too heavy for Pants' inventory, but we saved all the dinos and my journeyman pickax (which is what I really cared about) and my trike helmet. The one loss was my journeyman crossbow, but all-in-all, it could have been much worse. We seriously need some SCUBA gear. We did have one lazarus chowder made at the start of the adventure, but I think it may have been lost at sea.

FYI, the plesiosaur is pretty fast when sprinting, but that burns stamina in seconds. I put a few levels in melee damage, but after that adventure I think we need to boost his stamina more than anything.

You may have lost a journeyman crossbow, but there's a ramshackle one on Jeffery whenver you get on.

So let me just start off by saying, holy hell, Moby is a megladon killing machine. Slaughtered em left and right.

Also, we're going to need more of these guys. They're freggin beasts! I did restrain myself when I ran into a herd (3) of plesiosaurs, and then what looked like (at a distance) an eel like creature, which I can only presume to be the new mosasaurus. I didn't get close enough to pet him though.

On a side note, we seem to be missing a couple pteras. Anyone know anything about? Think Shark Bait and Mosquito.

Yes, yes he is. I ran into a couple megladon's last night, and both went down in about 5-6 bites.

That's odd about the pteras - we put them all up last night - we just left one little raptor in the water base, and everything else went in the castle.

Did anyone put some feed troughs outside the castle? None of the big dinos out there can reach the ones inside. Might be a good idea to scatter a few of the around. Also, as soon as the wall is at least 3 levels high all the way around we can probably safely put the Rexs and Carnos out there on wander. I wouldnt put smaller ones on wander, though, because they may fit through some of the gaps in the walls.

I'm wondering if it makes sense to segregate our dinos into carnis/herb groupings, so we only have to put certain foods in certain troughs. Thoughts?

If we put them on wander I am not sure it will make a difference. I do think it would be nice to eventually have pens for at least the smaller dinos. At that point doing type specific troughs could work.

What do you mean, "when"? Pretty much went down exactly like I had explained. Take a look around and let me know but I don't think anyone lost any work.

What do you mean, "when"? Pretty much went down exactly like I had explained. Take a look around and let me know but I don't think anyone lost any work.
The way I read it, he planned to do a backup last night, and second backup this morning, then immediately wipe the server and restore the most recent backup. I would assume the older backup from last night would just have been used in the event this morning's backup was corrupted.

And now I'm 2 for 2 for drowning on nights we tame plesiosaurs. I think I need to stay out of the water for a bit. Most importantly, no dinos were harmed in the escapades.

Also, the dossier is full of crap. Says they're supposed to be docile and only hunt small crap. I had a herd of 4 of them turn to attack me with zero provocation. So don't believe the dossier.

DinosMatter Group Huddle:

So I have been working on our fence the past few days trying to build a walkway all the way around the top and to bring the walls up to meet it. If you have noticed, the weird way objects snap together in the game have made our fence unlevel even though the entire thing was started and ended from the same base structure. What I started doing to try to correct this was to start the walkway higher than the topmost section of wall and then built more wall down from said walkway. This appears to have worked for the entire left hand section of wall. In the back left corner, though, the snap points have gotten so off that the wall coming up from the ground and the wall going down from the walkway leaves quite a sizable gap that cannot be filled. Our 3 options that I can see are as follows:

1. Leave the gap and don't worry about it.
2. Replace all the lower wall panels that don't meet up properly.
3. Get rid of the walkway and don't worry about it.

My vote is for #2, but that does mean replacing quite a large amount of wall. I just thought I would see what everyone else though.

Oh, also. I think our building has started to freak out the server. After talking to Ark and 2k, it appears that the lag is limited to the area around that castle. 2k stated that neither he nor anyone from his tribe was experiencing any problems, while Ark and I could barely play the game without huge lag spikes interrupting what we were doing. Not sure what the solution for that is going to be.

If we build from the top down, my guess is that it will move the gap from the top/middle of the wall to the bottom. The gap is already pretty bad in some places, to the extent we've got lots of stuff walking in and out.

That may not be a bad thing, provided we leave enough stuff wondering around that anything left outside can deal with a threat, and provided we don't put any little dinos in there that can walk out. If we don't want a porous wall, would spikes do the trick to shore it up?

On lag: I was on a bit last night and it was much better than Saturday night when Bru and I were having all the problems. I still had a couple of rubberbanding moments while sections of the castle loaded, but it was playable once it loaded. When Bru and I had all the trouble it was evening (more shadows and crap around), and there were a bunch of wild dinos around. Next time I'm on I'll trying turning graphics down to see if that helps. I kind of think the problem is the castle and the inability of the game to deal with such a massive structure (not necessarily the server). I've seen on forums/reddit where some people have built some really huge structures. Has anyone seen anything as huge as ours in another server that didn't have the issues we do around our castle? I do recall that in the old server, the area around the Texags base was just about unplayable due to the huge structures they had.

The gap would move to the bottom, yes. But, combined with any gap already there it might make the gap big enough to place another wall section. I figure the end result will look pretty much like it does now along the bottom, the gaps may just be in different places. Eventually I hope they fix this by allowing up to a single wall depth placement in to the ground.
