She would not have, until now. Sophie's first year WNBA salary was $58k. Her previous contract with the Phoenix Mercury was $100k. Thanks to her public status gained largely over the past two months, she has even higher earning potential than the one year contractwith the Fever.

First of all, there are only about 3 names I recognize from the WNBA and she's one of them - primarily because she's hot as hell and 6'1".

So yeah, her potential for endorsements is super high. She's not going to get a shoe deal but, I do expect to see her in a Super Bowl commercial in 2027.

Hopefully the Superbowl commercial in 2027 is for Carl's Jr.

I cannot even imagine being a man and rushing to the shoe store to buy the new WNBA shoe for myself.

That's gay

I can easily imagine it for two reasons:

1) some women have larger feet, so they prefer men sizes

2) people buy them to flip them, same reason any other issue of shoes sells out quickly.

I don't watch WNBA games, but I am glad Sophie Cunninham spoke out against allowing biological men to compete in women's sports.

How to make the lefts heads spin:

Sophie and Caitlin announce they are backing the Trans NBA (TNBA) with a commitment of $1 million each. They don't actually have to put up any money just commit to it.

They are looking for sponsors, investors and players and when they have enough of each and a broadcast deal they will launch the Trans league.

Specifically call out the NBA saying you expect the same kind of financial backing as the WNBA gets implying they are anti Trans if they don't back it.

Hold meetings, take it on the talk show circuit during the offseason, etc.

It will fail of course and then blame the NBA, media, corporate America, LGB and Trans people themselves for not promoting it.

That's how you play their game.

It's not the shoe deal like Jordan's. Her shoes are specific color scheme of the Adidas Crazy Energy.

Still impressive it sold out so fast.

That, and there is a lot of resentment that Clark is the reason for all of the attention on the league now, and Clark is the reason more people are watching, and Clark is why they're all making more money.

They view themselves as social justice warriors first, basketball players second. When you understand that their moral superiority is more important to them than success at basketball, it all starts to make sense.

Before Clark, they could tell themselves the league struggled because of sexism/misogyny/fascism, and feel comfortable. Clark showed that if you put an entertaining product on the court, people will show up and watch. This threatens their very identity at its core, because if they're judged solely on basketball and not on their SJW stance, it means they've been wrong all along.

If you dismiss reason and logic, and replace it with resentment and entitlement, their stance makes a lot more sense.

No. Your hole just keeps getting deeper the more you try.

It is not remotely the same thing as a boy "taking a spot" on a girl's team and forcing everybody to call him a girl.

#1 -- Girls have always been allowed to play football. In the 23-24 school year, more than 4,000 girls played 11-man tackle football at US high schools. They just aren't usually good enough to see the field.
#2 -- She didn't take a spot. Football is a "no cut" sport. She just kicked in an emergency for one game after an injury to the real kicker.
#3 -- Her participation wasn't unfair to the other team. She sucked unless you think 2 out of 4 is good for extra points.
#4 -- I could not verify this, but I assume she just used the girl's locker room rather than forcing herself in with the boys.

No, some of you are trying to dig a hole for me. I said what I said. Some of you are just adding context that I did not say or imply.

Did I say this? I don't think I did.

#1 - since when?
#2 - are you saying her school football team was a no cut sport (pretty sure it is not a universal practice and certainly hasn't been throughout history from middle school and on)
#3 I agree and has no relevance on what I posted
#4 No idea and not the point I was making (I'm sure, for her own well being, that was the case)

1 - I was in high school in the early 90's and girls could play on the team even back then. We had one chick in our offseason football PE for a while. I even think we played against one when we played against one of the Houston area schools.
2 - My school's football team was a no cut sport. You enrolled in football PE and did what the coaches asked, you were on the team. May not play much, if at all, but you were on the team, in the program, yearbook, etc.

Your stance is dumb. The argument against dudes playing girls sports is simple - guys, even ones that think they are girls, are physically bigger and stronger than girls almost universally across the board. Even guys that aren't physically as big as girls are always stronger and faster. So a guy playing in a girl's sport has a very distinct and very noticeable physical advantage - even a guy that isn't a great athlete against other guys is going to be top 1% against even the best girls.

A chick playing a sport against guys is a disadvantage. Period. Full stop. They aren't the same, and there isn't this massive hypocrisy you want there to be. Especially if the chick didn't displace a guy in the process of being on the team.

Absolutely love her and she's not wrong but she's a little bit hypocritical considering she held a spot on her high school football team.

If you can't see the obvious difference in a female getting a spot on the high school football team and a male cosplaying as a female to play women's sports...

I'm not even going to bother recommending glasses. You're blind.

I see perfectly that in both cases they are taking up a slot that would and should go to a member of the sex that plays that position and could possibly advance in said position. You can't have it both ways either it is okay or it is not. I agree with her stance, I just think she's being hypocritical.

How do you know she didn't win the position on the team by being the better kicker ?

I didn't say that, at that point, she may have been better than any other candidate or she could have been a "stunt" either way, she took a slot that should have gone to a boy on a traditional boy's team (unless there were no boys that wanted to kick). Maybe there was a late bloomer that, if they were given a chance to develop, may have outshined her or earned a spot higher (hard to say, she's obviously she's athletic but according to many on here, a rec team guy would be able to smoke her at her own game). Kids, even high school kids, develop at different rates.

You are completely wrong on this on all levels. And I posted it before I guess you ignored it.

She didn't take development away from anyone. The coach CAME TO HER to ask her to kick for them because they had nobody else after their kicker suffered an ACL tear before their last regular season game. She had kicked a 45 yard FG in a halftime contest a week or so earlier and everyone saw it. So stepped up and did it for 2 games.

There was no development time - they needed a kicker IMMEDIATELY.

And anyway HS football has never been a cut sport anywhere I played (both KS and TX) or my kids went to school. Many HS teams have 100+ kids on the team. My HS had a 6 deep roster in some positions. And that did not even include the Sophomore team.

Agree 100% and yes many girls have played football. For decades. I've seen many examples. A lot were kickers or punters. But some played just cuz it was fun and maybe never saw the field but were a part of the team. I knew guys on our HS team that had 100+ that never saw the field either. They just wanted to be on the team.

This dude clearly never played football he hasn't got a damn clue how it works. She took nothing away from anyone (as a sub kicker for 2 games - you said one but I read it was two - as an injury replacement which the coach WENT TO HER and asked her to do it).

Her previous relationship was with a guy and she has said in interviews she is looking for a guy who is taller than her and who will be head of the household. Probably another reason the rest of the league doesn't like her or CC.
