As for the other WNBA players, I agree with you even though they should thank them for the new substantial increase in salaries they got under the new CBA.

I disagree. Loving the revenue isn't the same as loving the two golden geese who generate it. If the WNBA front office gave two ****s about Clark and Cunningham they would have fixed the officiating problem and punished the bitter and jealous no-talent players that are assaulting Clark on the court. That's why Silver had to exert his influence on the WNBA as the guy who holds the purse strings just to ensure that the worst offenders got at least a slap on the wrist.

The WNBA is treading a thin line to allow the jealous players to assault Clark as much as they can get away with doing but still keep Clark from quitting. They are playing a game to see how much public abuse she can take and still draw crowds. The Fever games now look almost as farcical as the scripted WWE plot lines. Instead of beating her with folding chairs they just gouge her eyes and the refs play blind.

I'm not even going to bother recommending glasses. You're blind.

I see perfectly that in both cases they are taking up a slot that would and should go to a member of the sex that plays that position and could possibly advance in said position. You can't have it both ways either it is okay or it is not. I agree with her stance, I just think she's being hypocritical.

If you think that a girl who is openly a girl wants to play on a team that would challenge any girl's abilities is the same as a guy who pretends to be a girl because he is mentally unhealthy and wants to punch down on a girls team because he can dominate and get the attention his disorder craves is the exact sane thing, there is something seriously wrong with you.

No. Your hole just keeps getting deeper the more you try.

It is not remotely the same thing as a boy "taking a spot" on a girl's team and forcing everybody to call him a girl.

#1 -- Girls have always been allowed to play football. In the 23-24 school year, more than 4,000 girls played 11-man tackle football at US high schools. They just aren't usually good enough to see the field.
#2 -- She didn't take a spot. Football is a "no cut" sport. She just kicked in an emergency for one game after an injury to the real kicker.
#3 -- Her participation wasn't unfair to the other team. She sucked unless you think 2 out of 4 is good for extra points.
#4 -- I could not verify this, but I assume she just used the girl's locker room rather than forcing herself in with the boys.

Exactly.

I was an extremely late developer. I was the smallest guy in a large 4A (when the biggest schools were only 5A) school. I was both taller and outweighed one girl out of the 1300+ kids in the school. I did grow taller before I graduated, but weighed nothing for a guy. I was about 6'1" and 120 pounds when I graduated.

I could not have even sniffed one of the JV teams in any boys sports. But, in pickup games against our top 5 in the state girls basketball team, I could completely shut down some girls that had major college basketball scholarship offers. No girl on the team could score against me.

Now, some athletically lacking kid like I was in HS can just join the girls team. That's not fair to the girls that are very good at their sport against other girls, but can't compete against the boys.

I didn't say that, at that point, she may have been better than any other candidate or she could have been a "stunt" either way, she took a slot that should have gone to a boy on a traditional boy's team (unless there were no boys that wanted to kick). Maybe there was a late bloomer that, if they were given a chance to develop, may have outshined her or earned a spot higher (hard to say, she's obviously she's athletic but according to many on here, a rec team guy would be able to smoke her at her own game). Kids, even high school kids, develop at different rates.

She was recruited by the football coach to pinch kick for the team, after she kicked a 45 yd FG during a halftime promotion. The regular place kicker had an ACL injury.

Blame the other kids and or the football coach for her "taking up a spot" on the team.

a female wanting to play on a male team does not start from a position of having very distinct physical advantages over the men. The exact opposite is true when a male competes in female sports.

That has been and will always remain the point. It's also why no one gives a sh** if a girl makes a boys team, a rarity for sure, but it happens from time to time (I have yet to see it in person myself).

Who would have been the back up if not for her (may not have been one for all I know, I certainly didn't know she only kicked once or 4 times)? Y'all are white knighting something that doesn't need white knighting: she was a girl on a boys team. Period. Dot. All the excuses don't matter. My stance is cut and dry. If boys can't be on girl's team, no matter the circumstances, etc (which I 100% agree with btw) then girls shouldn't be on boy's teams. It should work both ways or then it would be at least a tad hypocritical.

I agree with you. It is hypocritical for her to demand a double standard.

I also think that there can and should be separate spaces for men and women. Ditto for boys and girls. Clearly not all spaces. But there should be a few things that are separate. The Boy Scouts should be allowed to be for boys. And the Girl Scouts for girls.

If we want sports competition between different biological sexes then we should just start an open division. It could field all comers. And separate men's and women's divisions could be maintained.

Great post. Absolutely spot on. If this doesn't course correct she'll quit within a couple years. And biggest reason is the one you specifically mentioned. The pure humiliation of public abuse. She's taking dangerous cheap shots on a pretty regular basis, the WNBA is doing absolutely nothing about it, and the whole world knows it. Completely unsustainable.

It is not hypocritical if the reason for objecting to men playing on women's teams is that the men have a built in physical advantage from male physiological difference. The same does not apply to a woman playing on the men's team. She is at a physiological disadvantage, so if she is able to overcome that and win a position on the team, there is nothing hypocritical about letting her play.

It's not hypocritical in the least. There is no competitive adversarial sport (i.e. not gymnastics or figure skating) where a biological female has a competitive advantage. In almost every adversarial competitive sport being a biological male has inherent physiological advantages in strength, speed, and aerobic capacity.

The only reason a girl earns a spot on a grade school sports team is because she is a high end performance outlier that exceeded the abilities of the male low end performance outliers in a small population of a single school. No male who was objectively a better athlete lots a spot to Sophie on her high school team.

Sophie's statement in opposition to men playing in women's leagues is specifically about unfair biological advantages possessed by men. The opposite situation does not exist.
