What's funny about all of this is that women's basketball is not a real sport, but politics is and it took politics to make it relevant.

The bug eyed chick (Reeves?) said this week that she would welcome men playing in the league. God I hope this happens. Granted, Griner was already the first man in the league.

Still hoping the league fails or that Clark and Sophie at least quit and move on.

Swimming WR's tell the story. There is no physical interaction between competitors.
50M Freestyle (long course) WR: Men's: 20.33 s, Women's: 23.55 s
1500M Freestyle WR: Mens: 14 min 30.67 s, Womens 15 min 20.48 s

There is no comparison between men and women when it comes to athletics.

And I guarantee you those goals the women's teams got were simply because they played soft defense.

Just like we did in pickup basketball when girls played - stay in front of them and give some token resistance but you don't play them physically the way you do a man. And on offense they also played lighter just using speed and size advantages without attacking as physically.

It's just human nature and ingrained in us to not be so physical against women.

Like the tennis guy described against the Williams sisters - he wasn't even trying too hard and was just amazed at the shots they could not even get to.

If a man played a woman or men played women's teams the way they played against men it would be a slaughter.

There was a game between a US women's team of competitive players (not the national team) and a group of Wrexham mostly retired players and a few regulars (which was at the time in the 3rd tier of british soccer) a few years ago in some tournament. They played 2 - 20 minute halves and the score was 12-0 so they scored almost every 3 minutes. The women's goalie was the player of the match or it would have been 25-0 she made some great saves. The women never really threatened to score.

I watched some of that and it's hilarious. There is a bigger, retired guy who just dribbles and runs through them like they are tissue paper.

That's a, "I'm not crying you're crying!" moment.
That's what role models do!

Compare that to the harsh, ungrateful prevailing, hyper-spoiled attitude of most athletes.

Ultimately, as a professional athlete, you are an entertainer...and would be stuck working a typical 9-5 for chump change like almost every other American if it weren't for loyal fans putting their butts in seats or taking time out of their day to watch you on TV. Hell, most modern athletes would probably be changing tires, liviing a life of crime, or living in squalor on welfare...if it weren't for fans loving their game.

Let me go find the clip. SC was called for a defensive foul. She had her feet planted and while standing still as a statue allowed her face to make contact with the ball handlers elbow.

Edit to add link. FB part, if someone can find it on X I'd appreciate.

The racist WNBA refs are saying that the foul was for Sophie's "initial contact", which I guess is when Sophie ran up and sort of put her hands on the thug. And then the thug's elbow was called "inadvertent". Any basketball refs on here? If that is inadvertent, then every time somebody swings an elbow, it can't be a foul.

I watched the highlights of that match, it was a slaughter.

The men had two physical advantages: they were taller, which meant they controlled every ball in their air, and maintained possession. Because they were taller, they also had longer strides, which meant they were faster, so they were able to easily beat the women down the field.

It was basically a mixed women's national team (think there were two or three US team players) against a beer league team in England.

I thought that the women in that match were retired older players. And that the men were active professionals.

But I may be wrong.

Still, it was a slaughter ...

That Billy Jean King match against Bobby Riggs in 1973 really gave women some serious delusion.

Yeah she beat an old man who was washed up and bragged too much. He was also a notorious con man and gambler and made more money hustling then as a tennis player. He once bet on himself to win the singles, double and mixed double at Wimbledon and netted almost $2.4M in todays dollars.

He had beat Margaret Court the previous #1 6-2 6-1 the prior year. Then King challenged him. She was 29 and #1 in the world. He was a former #1 and 3 time major winner but 55 at the time. His pro career end almost 20 years earlier in 1954 and he barely played after 1952.

And it was still pretty competitive he was winning early on. There are also rumors that he threw the match after betting on King to erase debts to the mob as she was a long shot. The fact that he was winning early and then got slaughtered did. not help quell that rumor.

But women have held on to that as some proof that women are just as good as men. It was a big moment for equal rights and respect but did not mean what they think it means.

It was a mix, but I don't know the number. you can watch the higlights and see several of the men are older. the women were some kind of team but I don't know their real make up as far as current or older players. For sure some were current players of some capacity.

I know one Wrexham player was a 19 year old developmental team player - not the main team - but he was certainly not retired either.

The women's captain was Heather O'Reilly of the US women's team but it was a year after she last played for national team. She did still play professionally for 5 more years after the match.

And she notoriously told the owners Reynolds and McIlhenny that Wrexham was "about to go down!!!!!" in the pre match interview.

One of the commentators for the entire match who was mic'ed up was the Wrexham goalie. He was not seen on the broadcast until the hand shake at the end of the match.

The team made up of former USWNT members, lost 5-0 vs team of teenagers. The short field neutralizes some of the physical advantages of the boys.

FIBA has an actual video out illustrating this as an offensive foul. Hmmm.

At least the top image has some sort of forward momentum by the offensive player and has the plausible explanation that the contact was incidental and not on purpose.

In the bottom picture, and how she received the pass and moved her arms, she 100% intended to make contact with Cunningham; yet "no hostile act occurred".

Women are poor judges of facts, even in front of their eyes, when there is any sort of emotion involved. No wonder no one watches this horse-**** product.

Imagine if Rudy T and Washington played in the WNBA, Rudy would have been double-T'ed and ejected for fouling Kermit so hard with his face.

We do the same thing in jiu jitsu when rolling with women. As a man you abide by the principle "If I have to use strength, then I'm doing the technique wrong" when rolling with female partners.

Which would have really sucked, because Rudy T would have had around 276 points at that point of a WNBA game. It would have been nice to see if he could break 500.
