It was mentioned several pages back that team valuations also inflated due to tax treatment

So what? Tesla paid $0 in taxes last year. Owners sell franchises all the time after using the taxpayers to jack up their value (remember George W. Bush?). Separating people from their money is the primary goal of business. The WNBA is doing pretty well in that regard.

Each team is losing at least 20-40 million even with the new revenue and the only people they are separating from their money is nba owners.

Wut!?

I thought the 40 to 50 Million dollars lost was the league total, not per team.

You're right. That poster is incorrect. And now, a lot of those losses are investment related, where the negative cash flow isn't just a sinkhole.

Incredible. After decades of money-losing, crappy salary irrelevance, they finally have a popular superstar with an attractive sidekick) who are doubling and tripling ticket sales and TV ratings by themselves, but they're the wrong color and not lizzys, so the entire league, including their own freaking coach, is trying to run them off.

This is the worst run sports league I've ever seen. The investors need to fire everybody and get some serious leadership.

Or hell maybe I'm an idiot and all these WWE Feuds are driving ratings.

Good points. I was a little young to fully see what LB and Magic were doing but I do recall MJ in the 90's.
"I wanna be like Mike!"

The game through the 90's was hard hitting and extremely physical. Battles in the paint were brutal. It's one of the things that made MJ so good and so hard to play against. He'd absolutely go toe-to-toe with the defense in under the basket, but he was also fantastic just pulling up and taking the shot from the mid-ranges.

You can have very entertaining and hard hitting physical ball, but his has to be officiated well. The whistles have to blow predictably and it's got to go both ways without exception.

Those guys were all ruthless on the court, but I've heard interviews that they all got along extremely well off court and had some brutal (but respectful) closed door games.

These gals in the WNBA are missing that part. It's just thug street ball that's barely one dribble away from a brawl.

Bingo. Physical play is fine as long as it is officiated fairly. I quit watching the NBA and never went back when even the league's own announcers felt comfortable saying on air during a game that different players were officiated differently based on their popularity and time in the league.

Nope. She is doing what leadership wants. League leadership, team leadership, and players union. Refs are officiating like they are told to do.

And CC is going to take it.

Her best shot was to quit and play in Europe. They offered her tons. But now, she has approx $16mm/year in endorsements.

Plus, while ESPN is all in with the lesbos, should she drag up, they will also take a hit. So, when these endorsements run out, they will probably throw in to stop the insanity.

Euro and Asian league salaries are larger than WNBA salaries therefore endorsements (as you stated) and notoriety are likely the key factors. Does anyone in the US know a single player in either Europe or Asia?

They run the league like a grade school club. Hell, last year they complained about only getting a week off during all star break because they spent too much time having kicking parties and couldn't get ready for their first game. Same this year. And lol at their reaction when Clark put on a show and it was brought out that she didn't party and actually acted like a professional.

The NBA has paid their token losses to keep their virtual signal going and the players like that. They don't like actual basketball being played because they can't do it.

They never cared about profits snd still don't.

They do seem to care that Clark boosted rating so much that their salaries are huge due to the collective bargaining salary cap actually being hit.

But these racist players think the ratings are due to them. lol.

Anecdotally, every person I know who follows Womens basketball closely, has been a lesbian. Until Clark and Sophie.

I don't even think they are making any strategic decisions on the running of the league. They are blindly following the Democrat partys cultural path, and that's put them in predictably stupid situations.

Their aim is to push the Party's degenerate culture no matter how loathsome it is. In that sense, they are no different than CNN.

Tillman just bought the Conn. Sun for $300 million. Franchise fees are now $250 million, up from $50 million, which is what the SF owners paid. I wasn't talking about a narrative or that people wouldn't pay money to own a franchise. Maybe you need to read the posts better to see who you are responding to instead of lumping an entire thread worth of posts onto whoever's post you respond to. I just said that nobody was going to pay a billion dollars for a WNBA franchise. The values you were spouting about San Fran's franchise are overinflated and don't have any relation to reality. Paper values are just that...paper. When somebody is willing to pay you that amount, then the value becomes real. There are plenty of reasons for owners to place inflated values on an underperforming asset. There is also a reason that most of the franchises are back under the control of NBA team owners again.

What a juvenile question. For a school that never once has featured Aggie inventors in the alumni magazine, but runs a feature every year on the top 100 Aggie businesses, one might think that my point could be readily discerned. This isn't some complex scientific concept. It is pretty simple, like most business ideas. How do we separate people from their money, how do we do it repeatedly, and how do we make it sustainable? The devil will be in the execution.

The WNBA needs to immediately begin protecting its most valuable assets by changing the game to promote their talents. The game needs much tighter officiating, more open play, and zero tolerance for conduct detrimental to the league. That "white privilege" tweet should have come with a suspension, just like Yuli Gurriel got for racially mocking Yu Darvish. Colson should get a suspension too.
