I'm fine with this AS LONG AS the only thing we change is the expiration date of this next CR…

Don't move one damn penny on what the left wants for their healthcare nonsense…

I believe that's the plan because it wouldn't make sense to vote for it now just to have it expire in a few weeks.

Per CNN

Quote:

The emerging plan is for the Senate to attach another short-term stopgap bill to a larger package of full-year bipartisan bills to fund a handful of federal agencies, according to those sources. There would also be an agreement for a date certain on a vote on extending the enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies far short of the demand of many Democrats who want an extension in the underlying package that President Donald Trump would sign into law.

The fate of the talks, however, is still tenuous. There's not yet agreement on some of the biggest sticking points, including exactly how to handle Democrats' demand on those expiring health care subsidies when Speaker Mike Johnson has said he would not hold a separate vote in the House. Party leaders are also still divided over the end date for the next funding stopgap, with Johnson adamant that funding run through January while Senate Republicans are pushing for a pre-Christmas cliff.

Some Democrats have made clear they would be livid at any promise of a separate vote on health care that does not guarantee Trump signing anything into law.

"I think voters would rightly see it as a surrender," Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal said, adding that Tuesday's elections, as well as a flood of messages from constituents, have signaled to Democrats that Americans "are saying health care matters."

I agree…I expect a clean CR with a new expiration date…there's no reason to give more than that…

Give them no concessions that are not part of something substantive in turn, and not some useless "promise" because they Lie. Reagan found that out.

If you give in from a position of such relative strength, it demonstrates the system is useless. No change or even moderation can be effected. Only things being Left is permitted, would be the message.

That being a system that may as well be dissolved will the next conclusion of the rising generations.

Traffic control shouldn't even be part of the budget. Should be part of essential services. I am imagine the nuclear missile silos are not being neglected. Put them in that category.

FireAg
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I read it differently…

I think they are trying to find certain portions that the Rs agree to fund…the Ds continue to balk because of healthcare…

As long as Rs don't give in on the healthcare piece or D pet projects already defunded by DOGE, this will be a win…

If they have given them everything they asked for (basically neutering the legislation passed after Trump came into office) and they are still demanding more and may get it, there is no point in voting further and need to look at break up.

I sure as hell hope not. If hes speaking lyrics accurately, that's means npr is re funded and illegals get health care money among other things.

Republicans are going to get the tory treatment if they dont actually do what they say they will.

I saw something about an airport authority (Denver I think) asking for waivers to pay the government employees at airports until the shutdown ends.

Not sure if that got anywhere.

Sounds like the deal they were working on has fallen through…

Ds are standing firm on the ACA subsidies issue that their bull**** created in the first place…

I say **** it…go nuclear and reopen the government without the Ds…

Best move the Rs can make…

Open the government and then bring ACA to debate. If Thune caves, toss his ass.

They want it to come up again just before the 2026 elections.

Republicans should laugh those clowns out and then hold a vote to pass a clean bill. Attempt to pass the clean bill every morning and afternoon. Hell, 3 times, once every hour. Just keep doing it over and over and keep putting the dems on record as the one shutting down the govt.

Hell, just do a sort of filibuster where instead of engage in some 24 hr speech, you just keep voting back to back to back without stopping until the bill is passed.
