If the Republican's have to cave and give the DEMs some of what they want, they should get something in return. They should tie the SAVE Act to this Continuing Resolution as a rider...Make the DEMs fight over the SAVE ACT that requires proof of citizenship to vote in Federal elections....Let them show the world that they don't want clean, fraud free elections...

If they want their grift money and kickbacks from their Obamacare BS, they better have to give up something big in return..

I disagree with your premise. The Republicans don't "have to cave". Keep it shut down as long as it takes and make sure everybody knows exactly what the dems are fighting for. The dems are picking the 20% side of an 80%/20% issue (funding healthcare for illegals). Let them tie that boat anchor securely around their own neck and let em try to swim. Fire everybody we wanted to fire before and add another couple hundred thousand.

Just be real grateful for Thune and Johnson. Do you realize if McConnell was still calling the shots he definitely would have caved Tuesday "before the break" or no later than Friday beyond little doubt.

So far they are at least braving the gauntlet, and apart from the always near 100 percent biased MSM, its not really being seen that badly.

I see your point. I just think this would be the perfect time to tack on the SAVE ACT. They need to let the DEMs know this is no longer McConnell running the Senate caving to their demands. They need to show them the consequences for playing these games. So, tell them we will start the negotiation with our demand, we want clean Federal elections. If you are against that, that's just one more really bad mark the Media can talk about for a few cycles along with the tax payer funded Healthcare for illegals. Nobodies buying that voter ID disenfranches voters BS anymore; we have to prove our identity for every other dang thing in our lives that's important.

Everyone is sick of hearing about election fraud anyway, even left leaning Independents that I know hate it and want voter ID and more secure elections. These are big issues the Republicans can use for the Midterms elections...Make it blow up in the DEMs face...

this is the kind of crap I really hate from both sides in these kinds of shut downs. We have 1000 government agencies that could shut down permanently and the average person on the street would never know they were gone. Instead of defunding those and using the money to keep the military paid and the SNAP programs funded, we are going to be all dramatic and threaten to stop paying our military and helping feed hungry kids. The fact that democrats are causing the shutdown won't mean a thing when we have spent the last week telling everybody we control what will be shut down/cancelled. And now we have Leavitt out there announcing this issue. Way to take a positive situation (the Schumer shutdown) and hang it squarely around your own neck!

Woke up, the AC was still on, hot water for my shower. Stopped and bought a red bull, now at work. Planes haven't fallen out of the sky and I was still taxed on the bag of chips I bought. This is the worst government lockdown ever.

The House was supposed to start voting at 5:30pm ET. Are they even there in numbers to vote?

If the House were to pass anything….then the Senate will be here the rest of the week to try to get something done.

If the House does not pass anything tonight…..then the house members are slated to go back to their districts till next week.

Any one know what the house members are up too?

The house has already passed their clean CR. It's all up to the Senate. If they pass something else besides the clean CR, it goes back to the house then.
