Wait until the sob stories from the layed off Government workers hits the News. I think massive layoffs is kind of a losing proposition for the Republicans in this situation, while the spotlight is on the shutdown. Don't give the DEMs anything negative to use, that's my opinion. If the Republicans want a win out of this, and a gotcha for the DEMs, they should fight for clean elections. Make the DEMs vote to require documented proof of citizenship for Federal elections. Eh. Legacy media is always going to cast the Republicans in a bad light. They are Democrats and serve as organs for the Democrat Party. They always show partisan bias. We should continue to ignore them, accepting the fact they will slant all news stories in favor of Democrats.

I think (or hope) Republicans have finally learned that the vast majority of folks don't consume legacy media anymore so let them continue with their partisan smears as it falls on deaf ears.

There's a reason the Dems approval rating is hovering around 17% and it's not because the majority of people watch legacy media.


I guess what I am saying is be more strategic here and teach them a lesson. I wouldn't make mass layoffs the first thing out of the gate.. The DEMs don't give a dang about layoffs. A lot of the Government workers probably vote for them anyway. The lesson here would be drop a bomb on them like Voter ID, and say OK, we will negotiate but that is our first demand. So now give us your demand...They will fight it tooth and nail for sure and it will only make them look bad because Voter ID is a pretty reasonable thing in most normal people's mind...I mean we have to have ID for everything important in life and prove we are who we say we are with legal documentation..Nobodies gonna buy all their disenfranchised voter BS any longer.

Anyway, they will fight it and keep the Government shut down longer...Then Trump can say, OK, well we had 2 reasonable demands, we want voter ID and we don't want to pay for healthcare for illegals, and the DEMs just want to fight and keep the Government shut down, so now there has to be layoffs and it's on them.

Make them truly own this shutdown is what I'm saying and think about the pain before they shut it down again. The longer it drags on, the more stupid they will look because the demands are reasonable.

The Republicans have:

The house
The senate
The executive
Scotus
State houses
State governorship

The house passed a clean bill.

6 democrat senators shut down this govt. 6 democrat senator overruled the vast majority of democratic preference.

He can be as mad and performative as he wants. The house passed a ****ing bill.

I had read later today that Trump instructed Hegseth to pay the military the next paycheck. That is pretty cool if they found a bucket of money that could be drawn from to pay the military.

A military pay period is probably 10 billion, conservatively. If the War Department has that kind of cash on hand that can legally be moved around, I would have questions about that.

I bet they just label all military pay "essential" and just tell DFAS to transmit the money as per usual, unbudgeted or not.
