We are unhealthy as a country
We spend more on end of life care
We count assisted living in the healthcare costs.
I strongly encourage you to travel maybe you will see its apples and oranges.
We also effectively pay for the development of most of the advances in medicine and the technology for medical care.
These get built into the costs paid by our insurance to the companies that provide drugs and medical equipment. But without our investment medical treatment, drugs and technology would not have advanced the way they have.
The vast majority of medical advancements comes from the US.
- The U.S. is the single largest contributor to medical research funding worldwide.
- The U.S. leads in the number of new drugs, medical devices, and scientific discoveries approved and developed.
- The U.S. has a particularly advanced biotechnology sector that has driven major breakthroughs.
- U.S. government investment in basic science, such as through the NIH, has been crucial for the development of many new vaccines, treatments, and technologies, including gene editing.
