Don't scoff at this because it could be very big if it happens. ABC growing a spine and holding on air talent to decency standards in what they post on social media could result in a thirty plus year star character on the soap, General Hospital is in danger of being fired, too.
Nancy Lee Grahn, good actress but very Progressive and outspoken messed in it by her response to Kirk's assassination, essentially saying he deserved it because he endorsed for killing others by his support of the 2nd Amendment.
Now, for some backstory here.
Nancy being a Progressive puke has gotten her in some trouble before but since she has been playing Alexis Davis on the show since 1996 and originated the role, she has remained despite previous warnings to tone it down.
But ABC fired two longstanding wildly popular characters back in 2020-2021 over their refusal to get the covid vaccine. That was all it took to fire Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) and Ingo Rademacher (played Jax Jacks) to be fired in the middle of their contracts. Ingo has sued, and Grahn hammered him on social media about needlesly endangering her life and everyone else's lives on the set.
Yet, when Grahn said what she said about Kirk, Ingo (Australian guy) went on tik tok and X to advise her to retract and apologize because he did not want her to be fired for being stupid, despite what she had said about him. He was the class act, she was the usual ugly liberal.
It is tough to recast such a longstanding character and have the fans accept the recast. Easier to kill the character (what happened to Burton) or just write them off (Ingo) when they are fired. GH films about six weeks ahead of airdates and not in order for episodes. Actors show up on designated days and shoot their scenes, could be three shows in which they are featured, could be much more. Nor do the actors on GN get full scripts. They only have the scenes requiring them to be on air. Have little idea of what else is happening on the show unless they watch themselves. Or hire someone to watch them for them.
Most soap fans know when foreshadowing happens with a seemingly obscure exchange of dialogue or looks exchanged. But if she is not privy to those scenes being filmed which won't be aired for a month and a half, the hammer could fall, if ABC decides enough is enough with her.
