It's a joke.Quote:

I read it. Are you sure he wasn't scolding us for celebrating because other people are involved? Whatever. Tired of too-clever-by-half nuances. People need to say what they mean.

For those questioning the firing of Jimmy Kimmel. It boils down to this. ABC yanked Kimmel, because they didn't want Erika Kirk coming in with a team of lawyers and walking away with half billion dollar lawsuit win.

And I'm sure all those people are just like the people working for TMZ who cheered when they heard the news that Charlie Kirk was dead. This tweet does not make me pause and feel bad in the slightest.

I remember when Kimmel was funny and likeable. He was on the man show. Guess Adam Carolla really did carry that whole thing

I don't know, I (and most people for the entire history of human civilization) have put the comedians in their own special category when it comes to speech and the Overton window. The court jester was the only one who (sometimes) got away with saying anything and everything about the king as long as it was funny. We have always made very unique and specific exceptions in our societies for them.
Now I recognize Kimmel is rarely funny anymore and his monologue about the shooter wasn't either, but something about taking platforms from comedians on the basis of personal offense or political persuasion has always rubbed me the wrong way. Disney has every right to do it and this isn't a free speech violation or anything of the sort, I just don't know that I like the precedent. We've complained for years about the left trying to cancel comedians who make jokes at their expense, even unfunny ones.

They both used to be very funny, then Kimmel got to a level of fame where certain things are no longer considered acceptable. He also started dating obnoxiously liberal women.

It sounds like his contract was approaching its end anyway. And I bet we learn that they were losing money just like Colbert was so this may have simply been their way to nip his show in the bud.
I'm 100% speculating on them losing money but it shouldn't surprise anyone if they were considering that they had smaller market share than Colbert and roughly equal production values.
Chuck Schumer melts down over Kimmel, compares Trump to Xi and Putin.

Jimmy Kimmel did not make a “joke.”
Jimmy Kimmel went on air and told the ABC audience that Charlie Kirk’s assassin was a MAGA conservative, effectively blaming Charlie Kirk for his own assassination.
