ABC & CBS are public airways. They should not be used to be a mouthpiece for the DNC, and they ABSOLUTELY should not demonstrably lie in order to do so.

So yes, their licenses should be looked at if that's what they are resorting to. You calling it authoritarian is just whining TDS.

The Fairness Doctrine was abolished by Reagan. It is LEGAL to "hit" Trump all the time. They don't have to praise him once a week, once a month or ever. They don't have to be "fair." Nor does Fox or Newsmax. You just cannot lie.

If it is false, and defamatory, he can sue them. Which he did and got them to pay up recently.

Think of this like NPR/PBS where they are government sanctioned and being biased (yes I know it's different because they're not funded by the gov't, but those FCC licenses are worth A LOT, so in a way, they ARE funded by the gov't)...

I think that's what the issue is here - gov't sanctioned stations showing obvious bias for one political party.

The only issue have with this angle of the argument being made…

I have yet to see a single document, email, text, or even proof of a phone call from a government official to an ABC (or ABC-affiliate) executive saying, "either you pull Kimmel for what he said or we are pulling your license to broadcast!"

A TV interview with the FCC chairman is not the same as ordering them to take Kimmel off the air…

l thought he was fired for his mouth and not arrested because of what he said. As far as I can tell, the government did not infringe upon his right to say what he wants. He can freely continue saying whatever he wants for the rest of his life without threat of arrest or discrimination by the government because he has the right to free speech in America. It is not without potential consequence, however.

The amount of folks who don't know how the first amendment works is pretty shocking.
Charlie would have copies of the constitution (as explained to a 3 year old) at his events. I would have suggested y'all attend, and get educated.

Drama much? Kimmel, nor any other tv personality, is guaranteed a platform. Kimmel messed up, ticked of the local syndicates and the network, and it cost him his job. In 6 months, nobody will care.

Just fyi, this is a summary of his ratings since 2015 -

"Kimmel's 2025 average viewership of 1.6 million is down 37% compared to 2015 totals."

"However, the decline is even more significant among the advertiser-coveted demographic of adults, ages 25-54."

"Jimmy Kimmel Live" averaged nearly 1 million viewers among the critical demo in 2015 but plummeted to only 261,000 in 2025. The ABC late-night program shed a staggering 72% of the audience that helps pay the bills over the past decade.

Kimmel wasn't funny and was on borrowed time anyway. He was stupid to give ABC/Disney another reason to fire him. Personally, I'm glad to see that left wing hate monger be told to hit the road. The market worked exactly as it should.
