The thread about cancel culture and the FCC pressuring syndicates.

That's what we're all talking about here. That's the point of the thread?

I don't care about the past 9 years. That doesn't make this week ok.

That's the hell I'm talking about. Don't abandon your principles.

I like your edit.

And yes, we do. So why the offense?

I'm not wrong. I know I'm not. The Feds have zero place in regulating speech. Period. I don't care about what someone else did. It was wrong then and it is now.

I believe a small government is best. I don't agree with the FCC Chairman's comments. I don't like X aggregating social media to cancel people / get them fired. I don't like the Fed taking a 10% stake in Intel. I feel crazy right now. My peers no longer care about a small, uninvolved government.

It's amazing that there are idiots still vehemently posting on this thread that the FCC strong armed ABC when they did no such thing.

The facts of the situation have been laid out and discussed.

The regulatory authority of the FCC has been provided - in which Kimmel possibly violated 2 items on the list.

While Carr's statement was not necessary nor met the high standards of the "concerned right", Kimmel's statement on air did warrant the possibility of FCC involvement. With that said, it was NOT pertinent to the cancelation of the Tonight Show.

And, they had no problem never ever calling out Samantha Power bragging about directing news coverage via USAID Internews funding money. In fact, ABC in their news coverage has been entirely dishonest for years.

'Threats to democracy' is code speak for anti-populist/anti-voter control of the news. It's clearly the case that ABC largely does not serve the public interest, and hasn't for a long time, in their news operations (including so called comedians, all of whom are leftists).

Under 47 U.S. Code 309(a), ABC News must broadcast in the "public interest, convenience, and necessity." Their coverage seems to serve only a handful of Democrats, not the public.

Their license should be revoked regardless of what they do with Kimmel moving forward, imho.

Still waiting on someone to show me where anyone in government actually sent a notice, letter, text message, or phone call to ABC or their affiliates demanding that Jimmy Kimmel be removed from the airwaves…

Has anyone seen this anywhere?

I see a lot of conjecture and assumptions based on TV interviews, but where did anyone in a government leadership role actually send notice to ABC that Kimmel had to be pulled or else?

Does this exist anywhere?

Apparently in a lot of minds and a lot of b-holes since that's where it seems to be pulled from. I haven't seen a good refute of these are stations that are licensed by the FCC so it seems pretty natural that the Chair could give his opinion.

Kimmel got canned because his show had terrible ratings and was losing money big time. And affiliates were losing advertisements in that time slot. Simple stuff.

My point is this:

Leading up to and during the 2020 election cycles, there are numerous documented (as in available in the public record from investigations) that Democratic Party government leaders and staffers ABSOLUTELY DEMANDED that Trump be silenced on social media platforms…

The same thing occurred (same party, same leadership and staffers) during Covid where one side of the debate was ABSOLUTELY AND SYSTEMATICALLY SILENCED because it did not fit the narrative that government wanted to push (and we aren't just talking about opinions…we are talking about actual scientific research being completely censored away from public consumption because it argued that the Covid jab wasn't all it was cracked up to be, along with anything that argued that the jab should NOT be mandated, nor should it be given to children)…

Again, there is WRITTEN DOCUMENTATION of this taking place…

Social Media outlets absolutely admitted under oath that they changed algorithms and actively moderated their platforms to silence anything and everything that did not match what Democratic leadership wanted the public to hear…

I have seen NONE of this associated with the Kimmel situation…

If it exists, let's see it. If not, the government/FCC/Trump didn't do **** to Kimmel. ABC affiliates told ABC they were pulling the plug on their own because local advertisers in several markets were pulling their ads and/or affiliates in certain areas didn't feel like Kimmel's message was in line with the majority of local opinions in certain areas…

The FCC chair absolutely went and did a TV interview where he said he felt like ABC should probably look into it, but no where did he say the FCC was opening an immediate investigation and that Kimmel was being pulled off the air by the FCC pending results of the investigation…

Economic factors and human decency silenced Kimmel from ABC's airwaves, NOT the government…

This whole thing is absolute BULL**** unless/until someone shows actual documentation of the FCC or other government entities directing ABC to act…

AMEN

I'll say that if there were ANY EVIDENCE that the FCC or Trump directed ABC to do anything then a Federal Judge would have already issued an injunction.

Evidence?

You knew he was lying. I knew he was lying. My aging parents knew he was lying. My college age children knew he was lying. Reports stating that his roommate was a transexual furry were all over the internet. But somehow, we are to believe that no one on his writing team or he himself had any idea that CK's killer was as far away from a MAGA Republican as one could possibly be. He refused to recant and/or apologize when confronted and in fact was planning on doubling down with the lies.

There's your evidence.

The only people who are calling for and have done violence in the last 10 years are the rats, vermin, and scum leftists. Antifa - violence. Congressmen and women called on taking out USSC justices. I could list 50 times our representatives have called for violence. This is sickening. Your post is blind, and tone deaf. How dare you.

True. With constant calls for violence and extreme language, leftists got a peaceful man assassinated. And then? "Gorsh. We have no idea why the guy did it." And then they continue with the violent language.

My conclusion is that the left wanted this to happen and wants it to continue happening.

I don't think Cruz says the things he said if Carr didn't cross a line.

Long run it probably doesn't even matter. If there are emails, they aren't coming out unless Kimmel sues or if there are hearings. And that process would take so long that no one will care by then.
He just shouldn't have gone on podcasts and TV and said what he said. Some folks just don't know how to quietly win.
