Unless Kimmel comes back and corrects the record and says he apologizes for intentionally gaslighting the American people by saying the assassin was right wing, then the FCC needs to go right back and continue with what they were saying before Kimmel was suspended.

Doing so would be very, very stupid.


Best case is Kimmel doubles down in a major and unseemly way, FCC stays silent and Sinclair continues to keep Kimmel off the air permanently while the other lefty station owners keeps him on. The "free speech" argument dies like it should and public opinion will turn clearly and unambiguously against Kimmel leading to his final cancellation.

I'm not sure on the exact workings of the ratings... OTA vs Streaming... But when looking at sub 250 in the major demo and 1000 in the over 50... And that's live viewership with eyes on ads... I'm sure Sinclair knows what they're doing

We will see. I think what Sinclair is doing is virtue signaling to some of their audience, but probably they will "reach an understanding" with ABC shortly to have him back on.

Over the air TV is dying. I'm sure they could cause Disney some short term pain, but I also bet Disney plans to be out of the broadcast business in the next decade anyway.

Sinclair doesn't need leverage. They can get more eyeballs and ad revenue from alternate programming.

He's going to use his huge platform on a nationally broadcast Pravda network to complain about how his couple day suspension means free speech is under attack because he told his truths about Nazi Kirk and Nazi maga. He won't say it was because broadcast affiliates didn't like what he said; he'll blame Trump and fcc. His audience will lap it up. Kimmel's numbers were horrible in the first place. Can you imagine what they will be with so many affiliate stations refusing to carry him. His days are numbered if they can't get those back, unless ABC just really doesn't care how much money they lose on it. Anything for the DNC.

So let me get this straight -
Jimmy Kimmel is allegedly silenced by the right, which we find out later is untrue and is actually silenced (more like held accountable) by his bosses, and then gets to come back a few days later and be unsilenced and can continue speaking.

Charlie Kirk is undoubtedly silenced by someone on the left, and will never have the chance to continue speaking.
And the right is the threat to free speech? Yeah ok.

Leftists don't understand that the biggest viewership tomorrow is going to be Wall Street. This is a huge play by Disney/Iger.

My guess is that Kimmel will have a record viewership tomorrow. That is obvious. What I have no idea about it is what he will do about it, how short the leash is that Iger put on him, or if he even cares. Or if Iger does. The play could be for Disney to act the part of concerned moderate, turning down the rhetoric, and now that Charlie is laid to rest, let it flame. Or, Disney is actually concerned about their bottom line and playing nice with Trump to secure mergers in the coming year (hello NFL network).

Honestly have absolutely no idea where this goes. And Kimmel can probably make as much money playing the martyr on social media, the comedy tours, and freelancing in Hollywood.

Disney is taking a major risk. Kimmel's show is a non starter with 1.5M viewers per night. I have a hard time believing this stunt, if it is a stunt, is meant to increase revenue.

My gut says Iger is setting him up to go complete lefty crazy and forcing the hand to cancel him forever from Disney for the sake of the allmighty shareholder. 20% of me says he is a leftist willing to die on this hill.

We shall see.
