Sinclair made a business decision, just as NBC Disney then did. These are not organizations run by good people.

I'd like to know more about the station owners refusing to carry the show and the impending showdown with ABC. I'm sure there is contractual language that local affiliates are required to air all network programming unless something extreme happens, i.e. preempted by a local emergency, etc.

My thinking is that ABC could see a very nasty and very public showdown coming and it would have highlighted even more what an ass Kimmel really was. Canceling him outright was a way to rip the bandaid off, although it was likely coming anyway, just not on this accelerated timeline.

Good Lord what a moron. I've always thought he was blackmailed to completely turn away from the guy from The Man Show who cohosted with none other than Adam Corrola but now I think he really did become a TDS afflicted idiot.

I am sure there is more powerful language in their contracts that say something like, "if you put our FCC broadcast license in jeopardy, we will not air your content." There is probably more language in the contracts that discuss loss of ad revenue because of said content for the local affiliates.

ABC was up crap creek and took the cheapest way out.

I was a semi-regular viewer of Kimmel going into 2017. Most of his humor about politicians was fairly pedestrian, satirical, jokes up to that point. He and his wife had a young child that required some special need medical care. They had some difficulties getting it, and he became convinced Donald Trump was to blame. It was like an overnight change when he started railing on it during his monologues. He became obsessed with talking about to the point I stopped watching by mid- to late-2017. The guy just got eaten up with hating on Trump every night.

I switched over to Fallon because, while he was goofier, he was also more moderate. You could tell someone got to him too a few months later. The jokes started getting a little sharper, but Fallon seemed a little uneasy telling them (like someone else was writing them and forcing them on him).

By about 2018 I had stopped watching late night TV all together until Gutfeld came along.

No, YOU'RE wrong. Kimmel violated clear FCC rules by making **** up and gaslighting the public as to the motives of Charlie Kirk's assassin. Not as a joke, but as an absolute statement that is demonstrably false.

All the FCC chair did was indicate in an interview that Kimmel's behavior was worth opening an investigation concerning a clear, provable violation of FCC rules. In other words, the FCC chair was actually doing his job.

Your misguided claim of a first amendment violation is the same as alleging that a law enforcement officer is violating a law breaker's rights when an investigation is opened into a crime.

Additionally, the notion that Kimmel was "deplatformed" is ridiculous. He was fired. Just like Tucker. Trump was deplatformed. If you don't see the difference that's on you.
