And that's the problem with not televising the trial.

People get their news from social media and the twisting is just going to continue despite what the facts are. When he's convicted it's just going to be a bunch of "reeeeeeeeeee" from people who didn't follow the trial.

The Rittenhouse trial being televised is what helped calm the storm after his acquittal. The vast majority of people were able to see the real situation and not what was being pandered on social media. Anyone pandering falsehood was quickly met with video clips of actual evidence presented at trial. We won't get that here.

Nothing is going to happen to the community. Maybe if we get lucky, that dumb fatass mouthing off will do something we can jail him in the cell next to Karmleo for. But there will be no riots and chaos.

Agreed. Collin and Frisco LE are ready, been planning for this for months. Interesting note - Frisco police chief is an Ag.

Agree. But even with the Rittenhouse trial being televised, too few people even knew that Kyle never shot a black guy. He shot at one (jumpkick guy) but missed.

Regarding Rittenhouse, even with the trial televised there is still a loud group that shouts that he shot a bunch of black people even though all three assailants were white.

Oops. Didn't notice the Dame said the same thing.

They also thought he shot the guy's arm off who had his hands up and was unarmed (no pun intended).

I still remember that idiot Michael Strahan interviewing him and letting him lie his ass off saying he had his hands up when Kyle shot him when he already had testified in court that he was pointing his gun at him (they even had a freeze frame of the video they showed him where he had to admit it). Did Strahan ask him about his testimony...of course not!

The people that are looking to riot or benefit from a guilty verdict don't care one bit about it being televised or not.

Facts don't matter.

Aggiehawg is exactly right. Few people actually know the facts of even a televised trial.

CBS Dallas reporter on Twitter:

ANOTHER NEW WITNESS, A 16-YEAR-OLD BOY, HAS TAKEN THE STAND. HE HAD JUST COME ONTO THE MEMORIAL TRACK MEET BEFORE THE DISTRICT MEET.

Prosecutor Bill Wirskye: "Did you become aware of someone not on the team in your tent?"
Witness: "Yes, he sat next to me." [Karmelo]

Prosecutor Bill Wirskye: "Did this worry you, bother you, or seem kind of normal?"
Witness: "It was kind of strange because everyone is supposed to be in their home tent."

Prosecutor Bill Wirskye: "What did Karmelo say?"
Witness "He says he wasn't leaving and says a profanity."

Prosecutor Bill Wirskye: "What did Karnelo do?"
Witness "He was starting to get more aggressive."

Prosecutor Bill Wirskye: "What does he say next?"
Witness "F you all. I'm not going to leave. You're all a bunch of p@ssies."

Prosecutor Bill Wirskye: "Did Austin take the lead?"
Witness "Yes. Karmelo put his hand in the bag and said five times, 'Touch me and see what happens.' Austin said he's not going to touch this guy. He was calm."

Prosecutor Bill Wirskye: "What did you see during the stabbing?"
Witness "You saw a big hole and blood coming from his upper body."

Prosecutor Bill Wirskye: "At some point, did you decide to unfreeze and do something."
Witness: "Yes, he had a knife, so we ran to the left side of the field. I heard Xavier say, 'Austin looks dead."

That surprises me but I can only assume that the defense counsel have not found an effective way to cross examine these witnesses at length. That means their testimony has been very consistent with their prior statements. And they also corroborate each other which is kind of rare with that many eyewitnesses.

I expect the defense to try to find some people who can testify to any bullying the victim did in the past, which as a HS age boy, there will probably be some crap out there but it's nonsense. Hopefully not allowed because it's not relevant

Exactly. Unless Anthony knew about such past actions on Metcalf's part, completely irrelevant.

The 13% supporting the killer are of the same mindset as Melo that a disrespect towards them warrants deadly force. This really is at the heart of it. He wasn't in fear for his life. He was keeping it real and wasn't gonna put up with no diss, particularly from no rich white boy.

A large large swath of the black demographic lives by this entitled philosophy and it's why you see them acting feral on Spirit Airlines, in Waffle House, parking in handicap spots, and killing people for little more than looking at them wrong.

If the defense calls no witnesses, they're absolutely ****ed. Supposedly their crosses were dog****, so they need to do something. Otherwise Anthony is staring life in prison square in the eye.

I've been trying to find the legalese for this situation. Has anyone heard of "provoking the difficulty doctrine"? Does Texas law consider this? Wondering how this will come into play if so.... Edit, found the details, I think this will apply:

e. Provoking the Difficulty

The lawful use of self-defense is not available if the defendant provoked the other's use or attempted use of unlawful force. A provocation instruction tells the jury that if it finds that the accused provoked the problem in order to have a pretext to kill or injure, then the right of self-defense is forfeited. A "provoking the difficulty" instruction is proper if 1) self-defense is in issue, 2) facts in evidence show that the victim made the first attack on the accused, and 3) the accused did some act or used some words intended to and calculated to bring on the difficulty so as to have a pretext for inflicting injury on the victim. Matthews v. State, 708 S.W.2d 835 (Tex.Crim.App. 1986); Lee v. State, 903 S.W.2d 845 (Tex.App.-Beaumont 1995, pet. ref'd); Smith v. State, 965 S.W.2d 509 (Tex.Crim.App. 1998); Juarez v. State, 961 S.W.2d 378 (Tex.App.-Houston [1st Dist.] 1997, pet. ref'd).

Provoking the difficulty is a prosecutor's instruction because it narrows the law of self-defense as it applies to the accused. The instruction places the defendant in the wrong. The jury may find that the accused had no right to defend himself when there is evidence that the deceased made the first assault on the accused because the defendant, in order to have a pretext for killing or inflicting bodily injury upon the deceased, did some act or used some words intended to and calculated to bring on the difficulty. The instruction informs the jury that the accused forfeits his right of self-defense if the defendant provoked the difficulty in order to have a pretext to kill or injure the victim. Kelley v. State, 968 S.W.2d 395 (Tex.App.-Tyler 1998, no pet.).

I also think there will be zero riots, nothing, when he gets life with no chance of parole.

The few that are out protesting are dimwits and the blacks that donated to the false narrative pushed by black racist want their Go Fund Me money back.

Delayed/late reply here... Apologies

I tend to agree. 2 driving factors
1) This is Texas and Governor Abbott is not going to put up with it. If there are any indications this will get out of hand DPS will very likely pour in to support local law enforcement in whatever city the spark lands, and I think they will very quickly be reinforced by TNG. It's possible that these preparations for rapid response are already spooling very quietly in the background.

2) General lack of national media coverage. It got the coverage when the stabbing happened and even then you could tell that the racist white kid attacking the defenseless black kid wasn't sticking. Despite an outpouring of 1-off cash to a GoFundMe grift operation, by-and-large the powers that be know what happened here. Fact's be damned, that still frame from the Floyd incident with Chauvin's knee and lower leg on him "looked bad." Out of context it "memed well," so it was a catalyst for a narrative. There isn't any of that here for an agenda based driver to work with.

Maybe a localized dustup if the verdict goes one way, but not enough national attention to fuel something large and ongoing.

Blue star for you Z3phyr. Thank you for posting that, it is clear that the provocation was on Mr Anthony. I imagine all the race-baiters, parrot-like "cracker-barrel"-bellied chanters , and blood hungry media-types wanting to cover violence have realized they can't continue to push this false narrative of Anthony being innocent anymore nor that this trial is racist driven. The testimonies are all so consistent and by people of varying skin-color (not that that should matter but truth/facts only). Sounds like this should be over quickly no?

Again, I have to caution about predicting what a jury will do. Without seeing how voir dire proceeded, cannot just assume that because there are no blacks on the jury (predominantly because they disqualified themselves by admitting bias) it will be a quick and easy verdict.

OTOH, this is Frisco, Texas. Those jurors may not be inclined to put up with the racial angle nonsense.
