This is the least shocking thing ever.

I wonder had KA just admitted to it and said he overreacted and his parents wouldn't have made a spectacle of it all if he would have gotten a plea bargain. If He owns it immediately and his parents don't run to the press and get the race baiters he probably could have gotten manslaughter and 15 years.

The media attention would have been pretty small so the DA could have gotten away with a plea bargain.

Yep, there was a window where with the right amount of heart-felt contrition, I think he could have pled to 20-25 and in doing so also put himself in much better shape for the initial parole hearings. Instead, from the outset, his thug family decided to attack the victims and tried to win a race war in Collin County. That was never happening

Also, Austin's family was very forgiving initially. The thoughts of the victim's family are HUGE. Probably could have been paroled by age 30

Yep. Trash kid because he was raised by trash people. Couldn't even be bothered to stick around for their kid's sentencing. Hope they end up destitute.

Ding ding ding

They aren't welcome in this town. I hope they GTFO and take their garbage friends with them.

Yeah, that manslaughter was even an option is messed up. There is no question Marshmello killed someone, someone young as well. Stabbed him in the heart. The only option is he shouid lose his life in return. No life in prison, no manslaughter. We coddle bad guys. But we have so many soft on crime folks now.

Well maybe. I recall that they, like other similar victim families, were threatened to not be inflammatory if they wanted any type of effort being put into prosecution.

I can't prove the above but I bet we find out this was true many years from now. Just like most things, the truth comes out but well after the fact.

Sorry, but "we won't put in the effort" is ridiculous. Not in Collin County; they aren't sandbagging the prosecution here. And his dad did it almost immediately, as in the day of the crime and day after he's doing interviews with local news reporters that he's forgiven Anthony. He was not pushed into that by the prosecution. No victim is. Now once the harassment started, I'm sure they didn't want it escalated to a back and forth, but his forgiveness came before anything. The harassment then started after that. If instead there had been complete contrition from Anthony and his family and you also have the victim's family supporting it, I anticipate an offer substantially less than 35

I'm saying what may have happened not what I think should have happened. In all but three states he would have been treated as a juvenile and they would have had to certify him up. Texas just happens to be one of the three where 17 is the age of adulthood in the laws of the criminal justice system.

I understand the point you were making, sorry if it came off the wrong way. I just think we are way too lenient on criminals and that only leads to repeat offenders and people who don't fear the repercussions of their actions.

Austin's family is correct, hate will eat your soul until all that is inside of you is emptiness. Forgive, do not forget. Seek justice, live well and be happy. This is the way. It is not easy, nothing is.

Agree and very tough to do. I couldn't do it. And a big reason for that is that I am a believer that in order to receive forgiveness, it first must be sought.

I was talking about that is SS class this morning. Redemption is for people who quit doing whatever caused them to need it. Unrepentant thugs do not want forgiveness. They just want to be thugs.

forgiveness is not for them. it is for you. holding onto unforgiveness is like taking poison and expecting the other person to die. it also, according to scripture, harms your personal walk with Christ.
God loves you so much He'll meet you where you are. He also loves you too much to allow to stay where you are.

Excellent response. Not sure I could do it, but a worthy goal.
