When this story first broke my first thought was it was a disgruntled patient or family member of a patient who had been denied and died. Then when it appeared to be someone who was young I thought it must be the child of a family member that died or a patient that had just been saddled with insurmountable debt due to medical issues. Now it appears to be a spoiled brat that just got indoctrinated and radicalized. Will he interesting to hear the full story.

I think drugs messed up his thinking.

Probably ayahuasca and other psychedelics.
Luigi said in his manifesto that his post back surgery left him unable to be "intimate" with women; that nothing was working down below. In his arrest photo, the front of his pants are soaked like he may have pissed himself. He is only 26 years old and he has been ghosting his family and friends (perhaps he had lots of friends) for the past several months. Schizophrenia very often hits people in Luigi's age group and this change in quality of life may have pushed him over the edge.

I doubt it was schizophrenia. Haven't seen much of anything about severe psychosis, like what happened with Thomas Johnson. This thing was calculated and planned with a great deal of precision

Back pain, Impotent, Incontinent, and pissed off at 26

Throw pills and whatever else he was doing on top of it and here's what you get

he is a hero. inspiring hope and change for more dead corporate execs that may lead to a wonderful communist fantasy solution of "free" healthcare for all.

of course the trade-off in nationalizing/ socializing health care means you get less innovation and progress with government-run and controlled industry than competitive market-driven industry. earners/producers spend more on taxes to fund care for everyone else yet they get the joy of spending less on private insurance premiums. all while society in general gets lazier and lazier for "free stuff". but sure, maybe it will be a utopia of happiness for all and no one will experience pain ever again.

Don't get me wrong I'm glad they caught him and I know they eventually would have but I'm always surprised how stupid these people that think they're so smart.

I mean the guy had thousands of dollars on him and his passport.

He was not on anyone's radar by name and should've gone and bought a ticket to a country that didn't have extradition. He had days to do so.

This crime is going to be in Alvin Bragg's jurisdiction and you just watch him offer him a sweetheart plea deal claiming first offense and no violent history

The dumbest thing to me was showing the fake ID to the cop in the first place. Supposedly the police didn't know his real name but they had the alias from the fake ID used to rent the hostel and he showed that to the cops. If he hands them his Luigi Mangione ID they likely walk away after taking a report.

Are you talking about at McDonald's? Didn't we all know his name was Luigi Mangione by the time they caught/confronted him? Maybe I've got the timeline all jacked up.

I saw NYPD officials being interviewed saying they had no idea of his identity until he was detained as the McDonald's.

Chatted with some folks who study urban left-wing terrorismRed Brigades, Tupamaros, etc. Asked if they thought this might be an opening act for this sort of thing in the United States (the Red Brigades routinely kidnapped and assassinated CEOs for example). I was more or less told "What worries me/us is that we don't know it wasn't."

The professionalism and detail in the act is concerning.

The early days of this thread had lots of LOL moments

For someone so smart as to get an Ivy CS degree, why was he showing his face in public places when the feds were on a manhunt for him? He should have stayed out of sight for a month and then come out when everyone forgotten and on to the next outrage. Of course after shaving off his eye brows.

Bragg has already empaneled a grand jury and is reportedly presenting the case.

Quote:

In New York, the legal process against Luigi Mangione is moving forward, with a grand jury now hearing evidence related to the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Sources familiar with the situation told CBS News that the Manhattan District Attorney's Office began presenting their case to the grand jury on Thursday to obtain an indictment. The Manhattan DA's office has not commented on the matter, adhering to the confidentiality of grand jury proceedings.

I want to get him back here in the State of New York and run him through our criminal justice system. Because that horrific attack occurred on our streets, and the people of our city deserve to have that sense of calm that this perpetrator has been caught and he will never see the light of day again, if there is justice. You cannot assassinate an individual on the streets of New York. Not now, not ever.

I would have simply trimmed my super recognizable eyebrows and headed to Mejico. Would have been across the border within a day and a half.

Maybe even dress trans...mostly to throw the FBI off...but in the event I was captured i could say that UHC wouldn't allow me to be my true self (female) and that it caused insurmaountable emotional distress, trauma and depression. I'd instantly become a hero and sympathetic figure to the fruity ass FBI, and half of the country. UHC might even start covering pen*s amputations because of me.

If being hunted by the feds, ALWAYS claim trans. It could only help you.

Doesn't sound like Governor Hochul is wanting Bragg to go easy on him. If he tries to play the Soros DA enabling bit, she may be a factor.

Tell me it wouldn't play well with the modern FBI which is a complete woke joke...and if you get a liberal judge and a few jury members who have been ideologically captured...you never know...I'd like my odds better than if they just saw me as a white cis male who didn't worship at the same evil and deviant alter they did.

1) this kind of murder usually means you are not mentally healthy

2) the actions after the murder would show he has serious mental issues

any Ivy League student would not do what he did-

he was clearly circling back around to NYC to commit another murder. because he had gotten all the way to Pittsburgh before turning back and heading west

with the murder weapon and the cash and the manifesto. he intended to get caught.

One could make an argument one is more likely to than say, an SEC one. The miseducation level and "entitlement grievance" mentality is transmitted far more stronger to students in those campuses.

It's so weird to me that the same people who criticize Daniel Penny and wanted him crucified for protecting people from an insane violent maniac, are acting like Mangione is some sort of hero for flat out murdering an innocent man.

Imagine if Daniel Penny stopped a white man, or the UHC CEO was a black man. Are the narratives the same?

Racism is terrible...but our society has WAY over-corrected....to the point this crazy murderer is hailed as a hero and copied!
