I predict he will be caught by the end of the week, and his ability to evade cops will not look as impressive in hindsight.

How did you arrive at this prediction?

He left the bag pack in the Central Park for the police to find, not to hide and discard it. NYPD took 4 days to find the bag. Water bottle and burner phone weren't because the shooter got sloppy. They were probably planted for a goose chase.

When I look around at law enforcement, whether I am in Houston, or any other major city, I am not impressed...borderline embarrassed. The quality of officer, in general, has plummeted in the last 10-15 years.

I predict that it will get easier to evade them and start getting away with major crimes, even with the increase in surveillance toold in every city.

The avg cop you see in Houston is laughable.

he is not up against the average Houston cop

he is up against the FBI

and NYPD homicide

and likely private investigators paid for by millionaire executives

and a billion dollar company

Cameras have changed the game too. Takes time and a lot of man hours, but I imagine they'll keep piecing more together just from that. There are going to be more slips somewhere

Have they showed anything from when they left his hotel and the shooter started following him? Could they have had some dialogue? I thought the stance he initially took when shooting looked amateur. Wouldn't a pro just fired one handed?
everything I have heard (which is not much) is that there was a witness who saw the assassin waiting in the same location at the investor day hotel for a few hours

it's easy to know the CEO will be speaking, and stand in front of the hotel waiting for him.

No one would every fire with one hand if they had a clear shot and two hands.

All things considered, the police aren't all that great at solving crimes (NYPD included). Granted this case is a little different given the publicity of it all.

But for the first 3 quarters of 2024, the NYPD solve or clearance rate for murder is 44.8%, And that's pretty high compared to lessor crimes.

Reddit is in love with this murderer like those pathetic women who went all in for Richard Ramirez. It's disgusting.

They need to nail this dude to keep it from turning into a free for all on CEOs.

It's concerning that they haven't gotten him yet with his face known. I hope it's a case like Bryan Kohberger. where the police looked like they were getting nowhere, but were actually hot on the dudes case.
IIRC, They didn't release any pictures of Kohberger when they had him as a suspect.

Pennsylvania police have detained a man they view as a "person of interest" and that they suspect is the killer of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

A NYPD police source confirmed Altoona, Pennsylvania, police today took in for questioning a man located at a McDonald's after a local citizen notified police.

The man was found sitting in the restaurant. He was found to have a gun similar to the type believed to be used in the murder of Thompson.

Goodness, that is crazy if true....if the killer was still carrying the super-unique and rare murder weapon around while stopping for fast food on-the-run from every major law enforcement group in the country. I cannot think of anything more idiotic.

Lol detained with a gun similar to the one used?

I mean they don't know much of anything about the gun if they have same video evidence we do beyond color, able to attach suppressor or is integrally suppressed and caliber. That's millions of handguns

Law enforcement authorities have requested the passenger manifest of the Greyhound bus the man is thought to have taken to Altoona, to see if any names match any of the fake IDs that were being carried by the man detained in the McDonald's, according to a senior law enforcement official.

The man was in the McDonald's at 407 East Plank Road in Altoona at about 9:15 a.m. today when another customer recognized him and called 911, a senior law enforcement official said.

The man detained in the McDonald's in Altoona had what investigators believe was a ghost gun meaning it was put together with parts sold online that matches the gun believed to have been used in the shooting, a senior law enforcement official said.

That is interesting now that he had fake IDs and was identified and called in not just because he was suspicious.

You can see him rack the slide using the knob at the rear of the gun and having to rack the slide every time he fired which isn't very common for a handgun.

I don't see a knob. I see him racking and striking the slide but hard to tell with that terrible quality video

A smart killer would have ditched it but I am thinking he didn't have access to a conventional firearm and used what he could get his hands on. Maybe he knows a vet or rancher that had one of these weapons and he held onto it because he had more names on his to do list.

If you were planning an assassination you wouldn't pick a firearm that required you to rack the slide every time you fired and that cost $5000 unless you were a fool or didn't have many options.

It is if you're ****ting suppressed and don't have a booster on the suppressor.

Common issue for shooting pistols suppressed, they can't move the mass of the suppressor back to rack the next round.

Bingo but bonfarr is convinced it's a suppressed livestock gun with a knob. They're already calling it a mythical "ghost gun"

You're actually believing this arrest is the right person?

Seriously all this so called evidence they claim to have and it's a random tip line call because the guy looked like the one facial shot they had claiming to be the shooter?

If they have the right guy and he was carrying the murder weapon, why are there still divers in the water in Central Park live right now in freezing weather looking for a gun?

Something tells me they have the wrong guy.

A person of interest was nabbed Monday in the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson busted possibly trying to use a fake ID in a McDonald's, law enforcement sources said.

The man who sources said is being eyed for the coldblooded, targeted execution in front of a Manhattan hotel last week allegedly had a manifesto on him when he was taken into custody by cops in Altoona, Pa.

He also had a gun, silencer, four fake IDs and other items "consistent" with what authorities were looking for in the case, sources said.
Why would need to show ID at a McDonalds, or was a fake ID used when the cops detained him?
