Down goes the U.K. Chancellor of the Exchequer, Kwasi Kwarteng.

Truss could be the shortest serving P.M. in British history.

Yeah, it's funny and annoying now as these idiots deface works of art.

Won't be so funny when they go full IRA and start bombing events and ***** You know that's coming at some point.

Interesting, from carscoops;

Quote:

Forecasts had indicated that European car factories could produce between 4 million and 4.5 million vehicles per quarter but if energy restrictions are put in place, this could drop to 2.8 million per quarter, resulting in a loss of between 4.8 million to 6.8 million on an annual basis.

"The pressure on the automotive supply chain will be intense, especially the more one moves upstream from vehicle manufacturing," analyst Edwin Pope told Auto News.

S&P Global Mobility's forecast analyzed 11 major car production hubs in Europe, ranking them according to which ones are best positioned to withstand energy issues this coming winter. The report notes that the Czech Republic and Germany are positioned well, in particular Germany because of its low reliance on gas-derived electricity and its current levels of gas storage.

Things aren't so pretty in Spain, Italy, and Belgium, will all three receiving poor scores on energy self-sufficiency.
I think the areas suffering this winter from industrial output cuts (due to lack of energy) will cause tremendous economic problems for Europe and the world. Short of the war in Ukraine ending in the next two weeks, not sure if it can even be avoided now.

Funny. Just a few months ago their nuke people said this would be impossible even if they wanted to do it so they had to go all-in on green.

They can magically pretend that the headline matters….. however in reality all buildings and equipment have an expected useful life. It's the Opex and capex costs that drive the decisions to keep them running. Big plants require lots of labor, maintenance and equipment. Those come in ever increasing costs as the buildings and equipment age. And you can sure as hell cannot cut budget corners on a nuke plant.

Can't keep an electric generation plant operating for long if it consistently loses massive amounts of money.

31 years old, cooling tower had run for 13 months, before being shut down.

German efficiency at it's finest.

Quote:

BERLIN -- The cooling tower of a former nuclear power plant next to the Rhine River in Germany that was online for just 13 months has been demolished, 31 years after it stopped producing electricity.

Remote-controlled excavators on Friday removed pillars that supported the tower at the Muelheim-Kaerlich plant, near Koblenz. The tower, whose top half had already been removed by a specially designed robot, collapsed under its own weight in a cloud of dust a couple of hours later.

Muelheim-Kaerlich was switched off in September 1988 after 13 months in service when a federal court ruled the risk of earthquakes in the area hadn't been taken into account sufficiently. After a lengthy legal battle, demolition started in 2004. Operator RWE says nearly all radioactive material had already been removed by then.

Yeah I have read that the Germans basically elected not to build more LNG port terminals so they are screwed, but it sounds like they are renting 'temporary' solutions of sorts at least.

I saw this week/last that some of their industrial capacity/energy stores will be better off than some of the other folks around Europe this winter (Spain, Italy, Dutch).

They may have it. But at what costs?

What good is it if the costs will be more than people can afford?

Notice you never post anything about EU food and fuel inflation, money printing, people burning power bills, economic decline, fire wood runs, etc. as almost if you are pushing hard for people not to see reality.

Which is, the EU economy is dying due to the actions of the EU leaders and our corrupt President/administration.

The French, the rest of the EU and BIden voters can stay warm this winter cuddled up with their feelings of solidarity of the Sovereign State of Ukraine, the holy land of democracy. Their thoughts of Orange Man Bad and how Biden is so mean to evil Putin will also heat their heart and souls.

Its funny how the Green movements and Progressive movements created ripe conditions for Putin to be able to take Ukraine. Meanwhile conservatives were calling for actions that would have made it harder. Trump being quite vocal on that front.

Newsflash lefties, the right cared about Ukraine back when doing something could be done. Now that you, the left, have weakened western europe so much there isn't anything reasonable that can be done. So instead of flying a blue and yellow flag just admit you are an idiot and vote R in November.
