Yes
That sequence was the same one that made me think, looks like bad time to stop sniffing glue.
And the next day TexAgs sponsors asked what's your fav thing to put in a taco. Coincidence? I think not!
I couldn't get over how tiny both of them looked in some of the shots this past episode.DannyDuberstein said:
Her main acting chops was the ability to play a tough, mouthy kid. Worked for GOT and season 1 because the characters called for it. Problem is season 2 calls for a different person now, and she just doesn't have it. Dina seems a bit miscast too - too petite and hot.
so they should have replaced her for Season 2? what is your suggestion hereGhost of Bisbee said:
TLOU2 deserved better than this, coming from someone who played through the game 7x. It's a shame because I really do think the showrunners missed the mark here.
It is not serious for a game that is very serious and has deep themes.
Production is top notch.
Special effects are top notch.
Directing is probably as good as it can be.
Bella's casting is just totally off for S2. A huge flub.
"I'm gonna be a dad" line was ridiculous, out of place, and not part of the game.
I was one of those who gave her a chance too. We're at the point in the story where if Bella was going to improve, it would have happened by now.
This is one of those situations where the game is superior in every way, so for those who haven't played, it's probably fine.
Last season, that wasn't the case.
Try raising a couple of them...CheeseSndwch said:
I just don't understand the angsty teenager vibe in a post apocalyptic setting. It worked when Ellie and Joel could play off each other but now each sarcastic line/quip falls flat. Maybe that's how it is in the game but it's not very enjoyable as a viewer.
Based on the time gap between the seasons I think they could have and gotten away with it.Ghost of Bisbee said:
Honestly yea.
Don't disagree. I don't have any issue with her. Just saying under the circumstance they could have pulled the actor switch off.Diggity said:
but most everyone seems to agree she was fine for Season 1.
Did we expect the director to just fire her on the spot because they didn't like her take on the role this season?
The line makes more sense in that context, but myself and apparently 90% of this board didn't read it that way. So if that was the intent, then it was just really bad acting.Diggity said:
the scene was over the top, but I didn't have a problem with that line.
I took it as her using her sarcastic humor to get through a heavy moment. I don't think she really intends to be a father.
This is actually a great point. I tend to agree with this.Phrasing said:Diggity said:

I'm not liking Bella as Ellie either this season at all. But there's no way the runners could replace her. The whole Joel dying scene would have fallen flat with someone we've only known for 1 episode watching him die.

Edit: I think they could have still possibly have pulled it off if he died in a later episode and there was time to form an emotional connection with the new actor, but definitely so early in the season it would have been hard to maintain the emotion of that scene.
