I suppose there could have been a market for retro arcade games at that time (Frogger, Tetris, Mortal Kombat, etc.). The carousel also seemed like something that wouldn't have existed in a mall in 2003. Not that any of it matters.

Random thoughts:

1. This was a mess of a thread.

2. First episode was great. Felt like it went downhill from there, but still worthy of watching. Not sure if I am interested in a second season.

3. Third episode was really well done. I would have liked to have seen more prepper stuff. Good bit of subtle acting from Nick Offerman - you somehow got vibes that he was into that dude about 10 seconds after they met.

4. This is an awful thing to say, but Bella Ramsey just doesn't have a face for tv/movies. Of course neither does Jesse Plemons, but he keeps getting roles. Thought she did an adequate job, though.

5. Preacher guy and his community felt like something right of The Walking Dead. Kinda cartoonish. I'm sure it was exactly the same in the video game, so I guess it's understandable.

6. I would have preferred Joel picking up on something subtle that tipped him off that they were going to kill Ellie, rather than Marlene just straight up telling him.

Overall that sounds like a lot of complaining, but it was pretty good and I would recommend it.

My ultra hot take (that's sarcasm by the way, seems we must overstate literally everything on this board) was that if you're still arguing or complaining about the episode where they got the gay on, you probably were too hung up on it to appreciate that single episode was some of the best television produced in a long time. No, I am not comfortable watching gay men do gay men stuff. But I was 100% dialed in well before it became apparent that was going to be a part of that back story.

A mini movie about a serious Ron Swanson in the post apocalypse, with amazing writing, humor, and endearing relatability (for long together couples). "Currently nothing" may be the funniest thing I've heard in years. The spat could have easily been me and my wife of 23 years. Humor. Relatability. So well done.

Overall, the season kind of dragged for me but finished pretty strong.
It wasn't even close to the best produced thing in this century and hopefully your wife doesn't end up like Ron's lover.

announced yesterday.

4/13 release date.

REMINDER : do not read replies on twitter about any tweet for this show. I have never seen a show that is so spoiled like this one. The game nerds really want to flex that they know what happens in this.

It just released on PC last week so I bought it. Wondering if I should play the game first and binge the show after? Watch the show first then play the game?

Normally I'd say play the game first but it takes a long time to get through and you'd probably set yourself up for unavoidable show spoilers with it being just around the corner. Unless you've got a lot of time on your hands and play it on easy mode and try to fly through it.

So here's the deal as we approach S2.

Previews aren't spoiler territory.

After credits BTS aren't spoiler territory.

Anyone who throws a ***** fit accusing others of "spoilers" that aren't actually spoilers because they are a gamer or some other dumbass excuse will be flagged.

The S1 parts of this thread ****ing sucked. Let's make S2 better.

Anybody know which episode this season is going to be the super gay love story? Have to imagine that is going to be a tradition every season.

If you google last of us, Google has a special button for the search at the bottom of the page. Never seen them do something like that before.

Google does stuff like this all the time, and it's usually only for a limited time around some sort of big release. My favorite was when they made Ross Geller pivot the screen so that it was at an angle.

Meh.
"Girl Power" to the point of being ridiculous.
*The group going after Joel, led by a woman.
*Ellie submits a much larger guy while MMA training (with bad technique lol) & demands he not pull punches in the future. Please.
*Ellie breaks rules & Joel's brother capitulates and lets her go on patrol. Fine, but hey lets do that again!:
*Ellie breaks rules while on patrol, patrol leader (of course, another woman) capitulates & lets her go clear a building with another woman while the 2 cowboys & more experienced woman sit on their horses. (Probably mares)

Other gripes:
*Ellie stabs infected with her knife instead of shooting it. Ever hear of the phrase "don't bring a knife to a gunfight?"
*Ellie roams around the middle of the ground floor of the building, exposing herself to attack. Why not walk perimeter walls to limit the direction possible threats can come from? Is she experienced or not?
*Ellie goes on "trial" to answer questions on the smart infected and for breaking rules. She gets away with breaking rules because guys have done it.

I like the direction they are going with the smart infected. I feel Joel's pain on dealing with teenage girl problems. But Ellie is just an unlikable b*tch in this episode that everyone kowtows to. Maybe they are setting her up for redemption later in the season.

Yes. I'm not saying every actress needs to be an 8+, but she is so unattractive that it is a distraction in a bad way. In TexAgs parlance, 2/10.

I like Catherine O'hara and think she does well, but I just find it hard to take her seriously. Also, Ellie continues to be the most insufferable character on this show. To the point it almost makes me not want to watch it.

I still like the overall storyline and interested to see where it goes.

I don't know if it's the way the wrote her or just the way she is acting it out but I don't think anyone cares for the tough rebellious teenager who does dumbass things and listens to no one schtick.

It gets old quick.

I haven't played the games so I don't know if the tone is the same but I am just assuming that Ellie is a moody teenager, and if that is the case then the actress is playing it perfectly.

I'd hope the "Joel and Ellie on ice" bit dies off quickly. Maybe one more episode. I get that she's going to be a sullen teen, but as y'all said, this will get old quick.

Season One is excellent enough to earn them some rope though.

Agree with most of your gripes except this one. It's similar to how it is in the game - when you have the element of surprise, you almost always go for the quiet takedown. You gotta remember, these infected are blind but have great hearing. Firing a gun is a last resort

That makes sense but why is she still using that switchblade to kill infected? She should have upgraded to a ka-bar or some other readily available fighting knife by now.

As Cheese mentioned above, a switchblade? You've been fighting these things for 20+ years.
You almost always go for the quiet takedown.... so you roll in with a 3" blade that puts you at risk of getting bit?
Dumb.

In Apache's village, spears would be standard issue. (If not crossbows/compound bows. Not sure if they work) Maybe swords or machetes even.
Also, how about we make some lightweight shields, or steal some riot police gear? Sure would be useful to put something like that between a person and the infected.

Also, kinda dumb they are worried about building houses/utilities for new refugees coming in.
Bunk beds. Candles. Outhouses. Cast Iron Stoves. Boom, done.

What would be more troublesome would be trying to grow food for them in the mountains of Wyoming.

I'm with you. I really liked Season 1, warts and all.

I don't know if it's the long layover or what, but found it really hard to get back into Season 2.

It feels a lot like watching a random episode of Walking Dead.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
She stabbed the zombie with a knife because she has a rebellious death wish, not for some tactical reason. The whole reason she went into the store is because she's bored with life behind the walls and gets her thrills from killing zombies. Now, I hated watching it because people making moronic decisions in shows is annoying to me, but it seemed clear the purpose of it.

The episode did not grab me at all. The first season was a big surprise for me that I really enjoyed, so I'll give this one more time, but I didn't really like episode 1.

Good point. Given that....It's been a long time since last season, does anyone else in their group know besides Joel that she is potentially a cure for the fungal disease? I can't imagine they would risk her running around like that.... she's a potential savior of humanity.
