Regarding those that know more about the Pykes.

Was the guy Fennac killed the HEAD Pyke, or just some regional Pyke boss type guy? Was he Jabba the Hutt to the Hutt empire? Or was he someone more important?
No, this was more like the "on the ground" commander.

This is what the head pyke looks like from the cartoon.

I envision when Grogu choose the armor, Luke is like "OK whatever jerk, I'm having my droid fly your ass to Tatooine, figure out where your boyfriend is from there.

I'm not sure Cad Bane is dead, they sure made certain to focus on that flashing light on his chest when he was down in the street. Someone coming to rescue him maybe?

I treat deaths in this series like GOT. Unless I see a clearly dead body (like burning in a funeral pyre) then I assume they will be back.

Cool. Just didn't want to spoil it or tell you what you already knew.

Cad Bane death was my biggest complaint. Finally got him in live action and wanted him to show up in other series.

Some decent payoffs, some fun action. Wasn't crazy about Cobb Vanth getting "killed" offscreen, but feel like action wise, we finally had Boba looking more like how he fought in the Mandalorian than his old man fighting from the earlier episodes. Rancor in action was awesome. Cad Bane's death felt a bit anti-climactic.

I give it a B-

Cobb isn't dead. He was in the post credit scene

Like someone else said, I'm holding out hope that Cad Bane isn't done yet. Would be a waste

Didn't notice Boba had his gaffi stick on his back until the duel with Cad Bane(did he have it in at all prior to that scene?), knew immediately that he was going to take him out with it. That would've been a heck of a Checkov's gun if he hadn't.

It's hard for me to believe any Star Wars fan wasn't hyped up when Mando and Boba both came rocketing around either side of that building on their jet packs to take the fight to the Pykes.
It was definitely awesome seeing 2 bounty hunters use all their gadgets. It's probably not a coincedence most of the good combat scenes involved helmets being on.

There were definitely cool moments and visuals, but ultimately I feel like that could/should have been much better.
I'm glad some on this thread loved it. I'm sure we will all break down what we did and didnt like about this finale, and the series as a whole.

I feel like most of the episodes were just bad in all aspects of showmaking, but a couple of the episodes were great so Im still hopeful for the other star wars series to get back to being great.

This was....fine.

In the future I will include episodes 5 and 6 in my Mando rewatches. Maybe this one too for the Mando/Baby Yoda reunion. Other than that....meh

What gets me is the droid has a shield generator…. Yet you keep shooting at it….for like an hour!!!

I mean, you theorize that the shield gen takes a lot of energy to work and that blasting it causes power surges to ensure it stays solid... sooner or later it'll run out of energy and get weaker and weaker.

And droidekas aren't common after the rise of the empire. It's not like there is a lot of experience with shielded droids.

Although Boba should have known.

And sending out the mayor's secretary like that to potentially get shot on the face just to set that up was phenomenal and made everything about that character worth it.

The end credits song with the vocals singing "Boba Fett" over and over reminded me of this.

I liked this ending. Definitely some badass moments with the rancor. Reuniting Grogu and Mando, if that didn't touch your heart, you are dead inside. The Wookie battling back was good. Rancor was badass. Cad Bane going down was necessary and the fight was about what I expect in a gun slinger vs brawler.

Fennec spreading everyone out to be ambushed and leaving Mando/Boba before the Pykes show up to attack does make me wonder if she is moonlighting in the spice trade. Killing off the local representatives for the Pykes to make sure they do not talk adds to it.

I am somewhat surprised if Filoni does indeed kill of Cad like that. Seems like a lot of effort to get him animated in live action for just these two episodes

Maybe the best moment in the show, and Boba's best in the whole series was when the Rancor picked up the droid and Boba says, "DEWIT."

Bonus points that the Rancor ripped its arms side to side, apart, like Anakin with the lightsabers.

I love that Luke showed up in person to recruit Grogu and really rolled out the red carpet for him with all the droid destroying, but then when Grogu wants to enter the transfer portal, he gets tossed in an X-wing piloted by R2 and dumped off on a Tatooine mechanic.

Two ways to look at Grogu leaving training with Luke.

1. It sets up the failure narrative that Luke must travel down for all the ST stuff to happen. Luke has to start failing somewhere, and this could be it.
2. Luke gave Grogu an ultimatum, but also Luke believes in redemption (his entire character arc in ROTJ), so if Grogu wants to come back to the temple, assuming Luke is still on a redemption path, it's in his nature to give second chances.

I still think Grogu returns to the academy at some point. Maybe a dip in the waters of Lake Mandaloria-tonka will purify his soul and return him on the Jedi path.
