When Ahsoka said, " So much like your father" and it wasn't intended as an insult was probably a big moment for Luke. We all know Uncle Owen trash talked his father endlessly.

I have the sense that Owen rarely talked about him at all.

The Ahsoka/Vader confrontation in Rebels (it's a cartoon) was one of the greatest moments if not the greatest moment in SW animated history.

That was my thought up until the final scene of clone wars.
i wasnt a rebels fan.

never thought id watch any cartoon at this point but clone wars was just good enough to keep me going during the flu, and then towards the end, wow. It was REALLY good. So much better even than most of the movies.

that's what got me to rebels, which i could have done without. But, the top 10 rebels episodes were pretty decent, and the ashoka vader encouter was the best of them.

I think that line was meant to bring a mix of emotions. Luke was feeling really ambitious, he wants so badly to train Grogu to be great like Yoda, he wants Grogu to agree to train under him and I think he's having to control himself to even Grogu that choice. I think it makes Luke take a step back from his ambition and focus on giving Grogu a choice. And you make a great point, to that point, Luke's father is the biggest villain in the galaxy and nobody knows that it was Anakin who destroyed the master behind the show and set everyone free.

I saw that line a different way. Luke acknowledging that he's not sure that Grogu's heart is in it makes Ahsoka think of Anakin because Anakin had a life before the Jedi brought him in - his mother, his friends, Podracing, the whole adventure on Naboo, and continued to have one foot in the other world with Padme, and he frequently considered leaving the order; even Palpatine's temptation, other than saving Padme's life, had a lot to do with Anakin choosing what he wanted to be, not just consigned to be a Jedi.

Grogu isn't so far off from that - probably held as a prisoner after Order 66,then finds someone to love in Mando, and other beings that care about him - a bunch of adventures - and now told you're a Jedi, be serious, you can only act a certain way. Ahsoka is pleased to see that Luke understands this as well, particularly since she herself walked away from the Order because of its limitations and inability to let Jedi be free. Combing the galaxy for any Force-sensitive kid and scooping them up is pretty ****ty.

On a different topic, Luke is telling Grogu all about Yoda - shouldn't he just ask him if he remembers Yoda? They were in the same place at the same time, surely Yoda would have had some at least passing interest in one of the only two other living members of his species.

My brother said the first scene of Grogu and Luke should have been Luke unable to "talk" to Grogu mentally like Ahsoka did, and him completely frazzled, yelling "MY NAME IS LUKE, WHAT IS YOUR NAME?" and getting all agitated.

I don't believe Luke would've had any reason to believe Grogu was at the Jedi Temple before seeing that vision

Doesn't seem Ahsoka ever met him or knew of him.

Why not? It seems like she would have told Luke what she knew about Grogu. She knew he was on Coruscant per Mando S2. Or am I completely missing the point.

I really liked the musical notes that Goransson uses with Luke. Beginning with the finale of mandalorian season 2

"A Friend" is the track, and he's using it as a new leitmotif for Luke which brings a feeling of desperation/uncertainty.

Just my thoughts on the score…

Ahsoka tells Mando that Grogu was at the Temple, trained by many masters, and was taken from the temple during the Fall of the Jedi. You assume she'd tell Luke the same thing.

I can think of one Clone Wars episode where Ahsoka goes with Yoda and some younglings to Illum to get lightsaber crystals, but otherwise I don't recall any episodes where Padawans are around anyone other than their own age and their masters.

Based on how much time Ahsoka spends on missions during Clone Wars, and the fact that she leaves the order before the end of the Clone Wars, it certainly seems likely that she could have never encountered Grogu. Star Wars.com says there were 200 younglings at any given time in the Temple.

On a different topic, when Luke asks Grogu if he remembers home and if he'd like to remember, Grogu seems to wince and not want to be touched at first. Gave me some Luke Skywalker believing in his "own legend" vibes from The Last Jedi.

The show ends with Luke handing Grogu off to Mando, then turning towards the twin sunset. The Force theme swells.

Damn it, if it doesn't end like that now I'm going to be disappointed. That would be incredible.

I was thinking Grogu potentially had to join the fight, now that he has armor and a new-found skill (jumping!) - otherwise, why set both of those things up - and thus whoever brought him would end up fighting as well. But now I like the idea of the fight being Grogu-less, ending, and then Luke/Grogu showing up, Luke giving Grogu back to Mando (in a nice twist on the Mando S2 finale), and then Luke turning toward the twin sunset in the end.

why not both?

the pikes will be winning the final battle. i'm thinking like a mudhorn situation...mando is about to be injured/killed by something, but is stopped. cut to Grogu using the force to stop it and then Luke's and Ahsoka's light sabers light up and the tide turns.

emotional goodbyes where Luke goes to open his academy and Ahsoka goes to find Thrawn.

Heh, that would be good. Show that Luke still has a bit of the impatient brat we saw on Tattooine in him.

i think it is pretty clear that we'll get a reveal that someone else has been behind the Pykes. we just know so little about them so far, i think it's because they're saving it for the finale.

i'm less sure as to "who" the reveal will be. i actually think it's more likely to be someone else, other than Thrawn, just to give Ahsoka's show its own plot line.

Curious why you think this. The Pykes have plenty of motivation without being a puppet of Thrawn.

Would be interesting if Thrawn is behind the Imperial Remnants and the First Order is behind the Pykes.

I'm thinking Qi'ra rather than Thrawn. Or, as the audience better knows her - the mother of dragons.

it seems that a theme of this series has been obfuscating who the "bad guy" was. we've been teased about the biker gang, the mayor, the hutts and now the pykes. i think it's clear the pykes are going to be the antagonists in the final battle, but i just feel like we're going to learn there's more going on than just a drug cartel running spice.

obviously i could be wrong, it's just a feeling. like the way they revealed Maul was really behind Crimson Dawn in Solo.
